My wife and I were maybe like the 11th or 12th occupants to move here after major renovations. Oak Park started taking applications for new residents after this million dollar renovation, if I'm not mistaken back in late 02. The complex is located close to the 1/2 million dollar homes of the Vinings area & near the new Cobb and Fire department precinct #3...kind of secluded off Atlanta Rd & Hwy 285.
The kitchens were totally remodeled and the bathrooms were upgraded as much as possible and the rent just went up a few dollars The neighbors look out for suspicious cars & people that don't look familiar. We've had a couple of car break-ins near the heavily wooded areas (my daughter visiting being one of those) and one shooting inside the complex.
The management I feel handled that situation pretty well when it was brought to their attention, by a quick eviction of the tenants involved. I've only seen one roach and no other unwanted guest out of the 3 yrs we've been here.

As far as the complex being ghetto I've not seen any of that and we have a pretty diverse commuity here, and it's my hope it stays this way. I make it a point to drive around the complex at least 4-5 times week to stay vigilant out of concern for the welfare of my family. A community is only what the people who live in it make it. I can tell you that Cobb police make it known that nonsense and speeders outside of the complex won't be tolorated in this area by their frequent patrols. We were to move at the end of our lease in early 07 but recently decided not to buy the home we'd been looking at in order to acquire something a little bit larger. So we've contacted the office to notify them of our newest addition to the family and we're moving to the 3 bedroom 2 bath come Jan. I hated to hear that a couple of people had such problems, but we can't complain on our end. I remember this complex from the early 90's when this area had major problems and things are 200% better now. It's my hope that we can save another $10-20,000 to buy that new home for our family in 08, but if we can't get the 5 bed 3 1/2 bath home we want. I can assure you we'll be here til 09. In all honesty, I would highly recommend this Apt complex to a good family.
