They may call it Vinings, but the similarity ends there.....

I have lived here for over three years, mainly because of location, convenience to work and just plain laziness on my part. I decided it was time to move when I found myself finding any excuse I could to NOT go home!
It was a decent place when I moved in. I was the first to live in my unit after the complex was remodeled. The carpet, cabinets, appliances, etc. were all brand new. Not a bad place and a lot of space for the money. It was a good fit for me right after college.
The buildings were built in the 70's, I believe. The age shows in the unlevel floors (my dresser drawers don't stay closed on their own, I had to install plastic latches) and old light fixtures, creaky floors and plenty of smaller details. The biggest problem is NOISE, not so much outside but from the neighbors simply going about their daily activities. My neighbors shower wakes me up everytime it's turned on, you can always hear when the apartment above/below and beside you has their bathroom fan on and sometimes even hear coughing or talking from an adjacent apartment. The noise insulation SUCKS!
The complex overall has had its ups and downs. The current management staff has been around about six months or so and seem to be doing a good job with maintaining the property.
Security is an issue, particularly the parking lot. Three people that I know of have had their cars keyed. Interestingly, they were three of the nicer, new cars in the parking lot driven by minority white residents. The complex across the street makes this one look a palace, though. It doesn't feel safe walking around, especially after dark.
This ain't Vinings, regardless of the name. The funny thing is the complex is surrounded on all sides by $500,000 townhomes and houses.
If you can afford it, go for something a little newer and actually in or close to Vinings.
