I have been living here 2 years going into my 3rd, and the only reason that I have stayed is because of the convenience. Oak Park is close to everything. But as you may see from others, it is not what it is cracked up to be. I live on the back end and they do not keep it up as they do the front. Paper is often found all over the ground. The steps going up into my apartment building are very much dilapidated. I too have seen many roaches in my apartment, which I must say, stays pretty clean. I had a rodent problem. There are never enough parking spots. The rent is always going up significantly. There is a clubhouse, that cant be used by residents. It's just pitiful. Now that I am able to afford a house, I am about to break my lease and roll out.

I will say that if you are living by yourself, as I am, it is a good place to start. It will let you know what not to tolerate later.

And let me add this final remark, we live across the street from a police precinct and there have been many break-ins and hold ups lately.
