Not bad but going downhill

The Village takes great pride in their complex grounds, but I think they go a little too far. While the rest of Georgia is on tight watering restrictions (and they have since shut down the on site car washes because of this), they have no problem putting out sprinklers all day long which mostly spray water on the pavement.

They also have some under the table deals going with local utilities and force you to use certain service providers. I live in a 640 sq.ft. apartment and the only thing that runs on natural gas is the water heater, yet my gas bill runs an average of $65/mo in the summer! There is no reason for me to even have gas as it would be a simple matter to just heat my water with electricity, but obviously somebody gets a kickback from the gas provider.

The complex is nice and quiet, at least on my end, but I think the rent is a little high for the small apartment I live in. There are also some bug issues as the other reviews have said. When I first moved in, I had a problem with ants finding their way into the apartment. However, instead of calling up maintenance whining about the problem and then sitting around on my thumbs, I found the spot under the window where they were coming in and sprayed some RAID. Every 3-4 months or so I have to respray the area and haven't seen any ants since. I still have not gone through the original can of spray in two years, have some common sense people.

Other than the problems I've listed, my time here has been enjoyable over the past couple of years. However, some of the tenants they have allowed to move in here recently have given me some concern. I see more and more people who are around the complex all day and obviously don't have a legitimate means of employment. This coupled with the fact that there was a shooting here in the past year makes me believe that crime will start to be a real problem here in the next year or so. Right now things aren't so bad, but as for me I'm starting to look around for a new home.
