NOT a good idea

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
Basically it's been a non-stop hassel, mostly with the management. All of the workers and staff are usually nice and helpful when they can be. But several problems. 1) We were given VERY little notification (about 5 days) to decide whether we were going to stay for another year (with a dramatic increase in rent) or move out. We were very rushed in our decision and unfortunately had little choice but to say that we'd stay since we had no time to review other apartments without being penalized. 2) They have a gated system that rarely works. It's broke half of the time, usually from people trying to sneak in. Recently that gate was broken for 2 solid months due to "insurance claims" even though MANY people complained about the lack of security. We also have already been re-ended by a guy trying to sneak in to the apartment complex (this is done by accelerating behind the car that has the gate card before the gate arm come backs down...he accelerated faster than we moved through the gate, thus hitting the back of our truck). 3) The staff is very short and rude. They hardly give you an explanation without begging, and then are very impatient and have an "I'm better than you, deal with it" attitude. Just recently we were charged extra for our last month of rent to our first month of the new rent amount almost double the amount than that monthly increase. When we asked for explanation, the manager explained that we should have moved in on the last day of the month instead of the 21st. When I told her this wasn't an option and I actually asked the staff to start my lease date on the 31st because I wouldn't be moving in until then, they told me that in order to rent me the apartment, I had to sign the lease for the 21st or not get the apartment. She then proceeded to look at me in a very annoyed tone and said, "Ma'am we all have choices...you should have moved in to a different apartment". Aparently, the manager of the property was telling me that I should have chosen to move to another apartment complex instead of this one because it was a bad choice. The property is not exactly "safe" all the time. There is a fenced gate at the back of the property that I find is broken or has a hole cut in it where people sneak in.
All in all, if I were you, I'd keep looking. I know that we were sort of quick to resigning a lease and if I could do it over again, I'd move out and I can't wait to move out next year. We are extremely unhappy, mostly with the way we're treated here. We get very little respect from the management when usually you try to please your customers, they do the best the can to let you know you owe them money and there's nothing you can do about it. Very low class manners even though the apartments are nice, clean and look very attractive. If you can handle being treated like dirt, then the actual apartments aren't that bad. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji
