Carrington Ridge is nice on the outside but as issues.

I have lived at Carrington Ridge for over 2 years. I only live here because it is near my work. The leasing staff is friendly superficially but if you have a problem, the faade falls. They will tell prospective renters anything to get them to sign a lease but as soon as they do, they?re on their own. The apartments look really nice at first. The leasing office is the first building you see when you come up the driveway but it?s pretty much off limits to renters. It?s an office and show place, not a ?clubhouse?. There is a ?business center? with a fax machine, computer and printer but there is no internet access. At times the neighborhood teenagers take over this room and in the morning it?s filthy. The fitness center is really nice and hardly anyone uses it. Bring or buy a full sized washer and dryer for your apartment because the laundry room has 4 washers and 6 dryers for the entire complex to use. It has no folding table and there are a lot of bugs in the summer. There is only one small swimming pool and during the summer it is full of children, all the time.

The interiors of the apartments look really huge until you put your furniture in. Then they?re crammed and cramped. The carpet is rather cheep and needs to be professionally cleaned every year, which the management will do when asked. There is no sound proofing and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. In their ad they mention ?Distinguishing accents?. These are nice crown moldings in the living and dining areas, light tan painted walls throughout (not white) and wallpaper border in the kitchen and bathroom. The bathrooms are huge, but again, not at all sound proof.

If you are not familiar with the area, you may not like it. Carrington Ridge is sort of midway between Stockbridge proper and an area know as Eagles Landing. Eagles Landing is a ritzy golf club housing development. A good number of businesses have sprung up in the past few years and there is always new construction along Eagles Landing Parkway and Rock Quarry road. It?s also important that everyone realize that Rock Quarry road is named for the Vulcan Cement Processor Plant that is right up the road from these apartments. There are dump trucks and cement trucks coming and going along Rock Quarry road around the clock. My car windshield was broken by a stray rock from one of those trucks the first week I lived here. There is also a large landfill less than a mile away. There is a dry cleaners, gas station/convenient store, ever changing wing restaurant and car wash place across the street and another large apartment complex next door.

One of the major problems right now with this complex is the driveway. Rock Quarry road is getting busier and busier as more new businesses open and more people move into the area and use it as a cut through to the main thoroughfare, highway 138. There is only a stop sign at the entrance to the complex and it is very difficult to get in and out. Don?t even think about turning left out of the complex, especially at busy times like rush hour and noon when all the areas business people visit the fast food restaurants down near Eagles Landing. There have been several really horrible car accidents right at our entrance. For a while there was one a week. People drive way too fast on Rock Quarry and take unwise chances. This is NOT a walking area. Even though there is a park a block away, no one walks to it because it is too dangerous to cross the street.

Speaking of safety, the complex is relatively safe. There are regular police patrols anf if called, the police get here very fast. There is no random violence here except for the small amount of petty vandalism from the teenagers. This may change due to the new management. Just last week there was a drug related shooting in one of the apartments but management says it was an ?isolated incident?.

Do NOT move here if you like walking to neighborhood parks and restaurants, need a quiet place to come home to and relax, dislike children or bored suburban teenagers roaming around, need a place to live that?s really convenient to I-75 (you?ll never turn left to get there, trust me) or are dependent on caring, attentive management or leasing staff.

Do move here if you need an apartment temporarily in this area, have children or teenagers that need friends and aren?t picky about who they hang around with, don?t use the pool, like to workout or play tennis and don?t require a lot of nice shopping (Wal-Mart Super Center is about the only shopping in Stockbridge).
