CAREFUL IF YOUR BUYING A HOUSE SOON!

I moved out 47 days prior to my lease and know am having to pay $2034.00 because of the verbal agreement I had with the old Manager. Management knew I would be buying a house within 10 to 12 months prior to signing the lease. She(MGR)stated they worked with families who are in the process of buying a house. Approximately 6 months in to my lease I stopped by the Mgr?s office and asked to change my lease to a 10 month lease and she and another staff member said not a problem. I expected to sign another lease but they

insisted it wasn?t necessary and assured me that they work with families that are buying a home. The terms of my lease was that I received one months rent for signing a 13 month lease. So I felt obligated to pay the one month rent and any upcharges for signing a 10 month lease which was an additional $15 a month. I wasn?t given any notice of this going to a collection agency and inside of 30 days I had a collection contact me and inform me of the $2034.00 debt. I tried to explain what verbal agreements were made and unfortunately those don?t hold up very well in a court of law when the contract states on one of the many pages that any verbal agreement between Management and leasee is not valid. Lessoned learned for me but why did the mgr even make the offer' I established payment arrangements as soon as I was contacted with the collection agency and have not missed one payment since I arrangements were made. HOWEVER, THE AGENCY REPORTED MY 30 DAYS PAST DUE THE MONTH I MOVED OUT PRIOR TO CONTACTING ME. I talked the agency and they denied reporting to the credit bureau but the credit report speaks for itself.

The apartments are located off of I-75 so the traffic noise would wake us almost every night especially when the 18 wheelers would pass by and brake. My 5 yr old was afraid to sleep in his room because of the noise level.
