There are some serious problems with management- if you have a problem, expect to call, write a letter, AND visit the leasing office before that problem is fixed. When we moved in, our a.c. was broken and it took 8 days and three visits to the leasing office before someone fixed it. The leasing office staff is incompetent and unprofessional. Be prepared to call them every day to remind them of your problems. The maintenance staff is wonderful and very helpful- the problem is that the office staff doesn't communicate work orders to maintenance.
We had a HUGE problem with ants and cockroaches all year round and lots of fleas in the summertime. It took several rounds of bug-bombing to kill the fleas.
We had trouble with neighbors blaring loud music and smoking (not just cigarettes) in the parking lot. We called the police several times due to the loud noise.
There was a robbery at one of the apartments in August 2004. The man broke into a disabled elderly person's apartment and stole some money and credit cards. Nobody was hurt, but it made me feel very unsafe. There is also a teenage girl who is constantly in trouble with the law, so don't be surprised if you see cop cars swarming around the 1900 block apartments.
However, for the price, this was still a good deal. Our apartment was nearly 1,000 square feet, and it's hard to find an apartment that big in Atlanta for such a low price. If you're willing to sacrifice competent office staff and no insects for a big apartment, this is the place for you.
