I am going to be blunt about it...

My husband and I moved into the Weatherly in the summer of 07. We had just moved in from out of state, and had to find a place quick. My husband was going to college not far from the complex, so it was convenient. But, man oh man, do I wish we had found somewhere else and just dealt with a commute. I have never in my life lived in such a bad area. When we first came to look at the place, they showed us the model apartment, and I fell in love with the bathroom. The apartment was kinda small, but since we don't have children, that was ok. We didn't get to see our actual apartment until the day we got our key, because it "wasn't ready". Our mistake. We open to the door to our new place... and the smell was overwhelming. It smelled like musty prostitute and cigarettes. Imagine that for a second. We had a ton of maintenance problems from day one. Their dryer plug was outdated, and we needed a new outlet. That took a couple of weeks. Our kitchen sink leaked. Took about a week and a half for that. I cant remember what else was wrong at the beginning, because we have been here a year and a half... for convenience only. We have had several other problems with maintenance, and it seems the only way to get it resolved is to call and yell at the people in the office for a couple of days, until they get tired of you.
Maybe I am spoiled to a certain degree, but I am not okay with hearing gunshots EVERY SINGLE DAY AND NIGHT. Sometimes only in the day, and sometimes only at night. But for the last year and a half, I can not say that I have gone more than a week without hearing gunshots. Also, I am 99% sure there is a pimp or something similiar living in my building. I know that sounds funny, but I am completely serious. I worked late hours, and was usually up at around 130 in the morning. Every night almost I would go out on the porch to smoke, and I would see a dang hooker going in and out of this one certain apartment. Different girls every time. Maybe the guy was popular with the ladies' I dont think so. If thats the case... he's a minute man, because they were never there long.
I would not suggest moving here to anyone. I havent had a problem with roaches... not the teeny tiny ones anyway. People around here call these things waterbigs... more like Cockroach Godzillas. There were EVERYWHERE!!! You cant go on your porch at night, because if you turn on the outside light, at least 5 of them scurry away. I am moving out in less than 2 weeks. I can not express how thankful I am to finally be moving.
Oh, and dont let me forget. If you like rap music at all hours of the night, this is the place for you. People are always hanging out by their cars BLARING that crap, and while you are trying to sleep because you have to go to work in the morning... all you hear is your head pounding to the beat of their music.
Another thing... they say no dangerous breeds of dogs... yeah freakin right. I have 2 very small toy breeds, and I can not count on every extremity of my body how many times some big evil looking dog has run up to us, and I have had to pick my tiny dog up and hold him above my head to keep him from being bit. And the stray cats are becoming more and more of a problem. We have one cat in particular that STAYS by our front door MEOWING ALL DAY AND NIGHT.
To sum it all up... if you are ok with living in the ghetto, by all means, move right in. But if you want to live somewhere halfway decent, don't move here or to Dekalb County in general. I learned the hard way.

I second this completely...where I live now, I'm paying through my armpits for rent, but I'm safe and don't have cockroaches...
