Just wait till you leave. If you are military and have to break your lease because of an assignment like I did they say one thing and do another. They told me when I gave notice I wouldn't be responsible for the whole fee that was 2 months rent $1300 if they re-rented the unit quickly. They rave up and down about how they have almost 100% occupancy and they have a waiting list and the units are taken almost as soon as they come open - on and on except when it comes to breaking the lease. I paid some of the fee when I left and never heard from them again - 6 months later (and I gave them my new address & phone #) they sent a collection company after me saying I owed over $1500. I couldn't get anyone at the office to tell me if it was still vacant & why they hadn't re-rented the unit or if it had or why they were trying to collect more than the contract we signed. It wasn't because of damages I took pictures of every room and closet, inside the fridge, dishwasher and all the light fixtures. I even paid them to do the cleaning so they cant claim the unit wasnt cleaned. So basically when they say you won't be liable if they quickly re-rent the unit they are lying and will sick a horrible collection company on you and still make you pay the full fee when they have re-rented the unit. They are just trying to make money off you to buy booze they serve minors at their office sponsored "pool parties".
