I'm currently searching for apartments and have become extremely discouraged by reading reviews on this site. I began to wonder if these reviews were maybe from disgruntled residents, so I decided to check the reviews for Alta Ridgewalk, my current residence, just to see if I agreed.
While I obviously can't speak for everyone in the complex and while I'm also sure that everyone has their own personal experiences, mine at ARW have been great. The most surprising reviews are the ones detailing the safety of the complex. I moved to Georgia from the North by myself not knowing a soul in the state, so safety was a major concern for me. I have NOT once felt unsafe or threatened in any way at ARW.
Other issues I noticed...1. Parking - maybe it's my building, but I always have a spot right by my apartment. It's really not an issue for me; 2. Staff - they've always been great and helpful. Maybe other residents are catching them on a bad day, or maybe it's me catching them on a good day, but either way, they've always been great; 3. Maintenance - these guys are quick and responsive. I've had two maintenance requests, and they were both fulfilled within 24 hours. As far as the grounds go, they are well taken care of, and the breezeways are always clean, except for an occasional cigarette butt. I do agree with some of the other reviews that there is dog poop everywhere, but that's just irresponsible pet owners; 4. Bugs - yes, I have bugs, but it's also Georgia.
The one thing that I personally don't like is that there are SO many children in the complex, and they are loud and run all around my building and right outside my window. More often than not, the kiddos are unsupervised and running amuck, but again, irresponsible parents not staff.
It's a great complex, and I would recommend it for anyone. I would most definitely renew my lease here if I didn't have to get closer to the city for work.

Lived here?

Just want to touch on a couple things that you mentioned. While the staff here is typically pretty nice, they rotate too much. I've lived here for 5 months. Every time I've gone in to pay my rent, there has been a completely different staff than the time before. When I would ask where a particular person was, the response was, "oh...yeah...he/she doesn't work here anymore." They also tend to be ineffective. When I moved in, there was a car parked in the closest space right outside my building with out-of-state tags that were expired for over two YEARS. This was in April. There was a Santa hat sitting in the front passenger seat, so I can only assume it had been sitting there since at least December. I began to notice that it NEVER moved. So I started calling to have it tagged and towed. I was always told, "sure, we'll get the courtesy officer right over to take care of it." Over the course of 5 months, I called about the car about half a dozen times. It finally went away this week. The only reason I was so adamant is because, at least around the 400, 500, and 600 buildings, there is a major parking problem. Never enough spaces for everyone, so some of the residents park in front of the garages, impeding the flow of traffic. The staff has never done anything about those illegally parked cars. Noise is ALWAYS an issue at night. In the 5 months that I've lived here, I've called the courtesy officer at least a dozen times to break up the congregating loud-mouths right outside my building. It's gotten so bad that the complex sent out flyers instructing residents to start calling the ACTUAL POLICE DEPT in addition to the courtesy officer if we notice large groups loitering after 9 pm. In the same flyer, they admitted that the gate is "consistently out of working order" (i.e. BROKE). They sent another flyer out recently acknowledging that they are "aware that there are residents with prohibited breeds of dogs that are dangerous to other pets and residents". My question is...if you're aware of the situation, why don't you evict the people who are in violation of their lease agreements, especially when you KNOW they are endangering other people by having these aggresive breeds on the property? While the inside of the apartments are nice, I would encourage you to look elsewhere in your apartment search. I've discovered that the only way to get an apartment that isn't filled with the type of riff-raff I have to deal with until my lease is up, you have to find a complex that isn'y subsidized by the government. What I mean is, if they offer rent discounts to "low-income" residents, its because the government gives the complex money to do so. That also means that you likely have a lot of Section 8 or other low-life people who are living there for FREE off of your tax dollars. Apartments that don't offer this discount won't have near the number of scumbags living there to disrupt the lives of all the honest, decent, hard working people.

If you were not listning then hear this ok. I have been living here close to 2years....They say im crazy yea ok. One of the maintanance guys are making themselves at home inside my apartment or perhaps a hidden video camera is installed in the apartment because whenever I go out someone comes in ..............with a key I might add. I have had things stolen but get this the person returns the items. The croch has been cut out of my clothing but management tells me no one has removed my key from the office. Hello they are not suppossed to have a key to my apartment the last manager in charge took care of that but guess what is thier a thing as a master key??????????? Its been found I have called the police several times to make complaints management says we are sorry you feel someone is goin in your apartment but we trust our guys...........really you just got here last week you new management this particular maintanceman has been here long before you came you dont know him from a can of paint. I contacted the domestic violence unit even though I never had a relationship with this person Ive been warned tha this person is dangerous and a psychopath and I need to get out of here as soon as possible. If you a single female parent dont move here take you children safely somewhere else my children are afraid to sleep in thier own room. If your a single woman dont move here. To move here you need a man with a plan if you know what i mean :) get it. The apartments are beautiful but for safety and peice of mind MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE
