My wife and I moved into the Terraces shortly after becoming engaged. We moved in in August of 2005. The apartment we were shown was sufficient for the quick move we were looking for. One month after we moved in high school football started. Waking up every Saturday Morning to the sound of band practice is no fun. When we moved in we had a cat and paid the "deposit" for her. We were under the impression that this deposit was to cover up to three animals and got a puppy. We soon received a notice on our door stating that we were in violation of our pet agreement and were fined $150.00 and had to pay another $350.00 "deposit. In July of 2006 the apartment next to ours caught fire due to smoking materials on the balcony. The fire alarm did not go off and by the time a neighbor started banging on doors our apartment was half way filled with smoke. We got out to see the whole top section of our building on fire. The apartment complex did not have sufficient operational sprinklers in our building. We lost 90% of everything we had 2 months after getting married. We were so devastated we accepted an older apartment elsewhere in the complex to try to get us back on our feet. 6 weeks after moving in we were notified that we had to sign a lease or vacate and lose our deposits for our burned down apartment. we signed a 6 month lease and finally got the hell out in February of 2007. They Hit us for everything they possibly could. Including repairs in the apartment that were damaged when we moved in. We now owe The Terraces $209.00 after they screwed us out of the $699.00 deposit, $99.00 application fee, $150.00 Pet deposit and $350.00 pet fee. The lease is very careful as to what is called a fee and what is a refundable deposit. From the rude attitude of the people at the leasing office, including a very unhappy fat woman, to the trash constantly overflowing at the entrance of the community, to the constant trash and dog crap on the turf areas I have one recommendation to anyone who is considering moving into the Terraces at Towne Lake. RUN!!! Find somewhere else to live, Rent a House, A hotel room is better than this place.
