Its not been that bad for me...

I've lived in the complex about a year and a half. I live on the top floor of a two story building so I can't say anything about the noise because I never hear anything from above. The only time I've heard anything next to me is when its silent and I'm in the bathroom and my neighbors are in their bathroom, usually its the little girl yelling for her mom, so nothing major just funny. I have no problem with parking but I don't live in some of the problem areas (which do exist). I have never heard any of the noise from the high school but I don't live on that side of the complex. There are a bunch of kids that skip school and come to the complex and smoke and hang out behind the garages and in the woods but I have never (knock on wood) had anything happen to my car. There has been a problem in the past with spiders, but they have always been outside. The only bug (again, knock on wood) that I've ever seen IN the apartment is a silverfish or whatever you call those weird things. I've probably seen 5 total the whole time I've been here. It was really sad to see what happened to the people that lost everything in the fire and I never got a full answer as to what happened. About three months after the fire they sent out fire inspectors to each apartment and they supposedly have everything working. While on that inspection they discovered my "unauthorized" dog, which I had FULLY paid the deposit for both dogs, but they fixed that problem pretty fast. They have recently done some painting and pressure washing which has made everything look MUCH better and they did it in a timely manner. The pet park is nice considering I have dogs. They don't keep doggie bags in it all the time so you have to watch where you walk b/c people don't have anything to pick up waste with if they didn't bring their own. I don't use the gym, car wash, play ground, tanning bed or hot tub so I can't say anything good or bad about them. I used the laundry room for a few months before I got my own W/D and it was typical. The gates are a joke. Three cars can get in at a time WHEN they work. I haven't seen a working gate since at least November. When they worked the last time, NONE of the key cards worked so you had to call yourself in on the quest gate or just follow someone in. The pools are okay and are dirty most of the summer. Last summer they were closed A LOT. The garbage disposal problem has been fixed and they put a "wood" thing around it to make it look better but its still the first thing you see when you come in. As far as the staff MOST of the girls in there are nice. I have only had one bad experience when someone was rude to me and I was rude back and she hasn't spoken to me since, so problem solved I guess. All of the other girls in there are fine and they all know me by name and act interested in my life. The maintanence staff is nice and I have only had to call them twice, once for the garbage disposal and once for the ice maker. They fixed both things the next day and would have come that day but I have dogs and one of the guys is afraid of dogs so I just tell them to come the next day when I'm going to put the dogs up and its always done by the time I get home from work. I heard a comment from one of the men that work for the complex that was made to a friend of mine that lives here as well. They(my friend and husband) have had a cat for a year or so that they didn't pay a pet deposit. They had never sent them a warning for an "unauthorized" pet. One day my friend came home and one of the guys(from the complex) was in their apt. fixing something and she said "guess we're caught"(talking about the cat) and he said "No, we've known you had the cat, we just turn in people we don't like." I thought that was ridiculous and from the number of people that I've heard get that notice they must not like many people. Its very unprofesional and I was slightly offended at first but I just don't care anymore. I overall feel safe here and its worth it for the money if you get on the half of the complex that is more quiet for whatever reason and has more parking. Which is buildings 100-600 from my observations. The other side has less parking and is close to the high school so its loud. I will probably not renew my lease because I'm going to move closer to work considering that I now have a 20 mile drive that is in traffic. I've always felt safe but I don't have anything to compare this too b/c it is my first apartment that wasn't on a college campus. The dog owners all have a nice community and that's who I've gotten to know in the complex because of the pet park. Everyone is very friendly and most of the dogs are, there are a few aggresive ones, but they're under control. The only neighbors I wish would go away are the ones that drive down the road like its Dixie Speedway because there are kids and animals in the complex and its scary. As far as the shooting and the meth lab talk, all of that was before I moved in. The shooting was a domestic cheating spouse thing and the meth lab could happen anywhere. I've never heard about the hit and run but it wouldn't surpise me with the way people drive. Most stuff is not that big of a deal and I hope people's venting doesn't turn you away from a place that's not THAT bad.

Not THAT bad? This person is obviously being very nice. After having basically been told that she had to pay a pet deposit because they didn't like her, and acknowledging the problems experienced, I admire her restraint. Now, I think I'll write a review. If you want to rent an apartment that's "not THAT bad" Terraces at Towne Lake may be a good choice. If you want to rent one that's "really that good" look elsewhere.
