I'd suggest you come thru the complex at night. Do you want to be unsafe and live in a dirty complex'

The last post on this complex complains about gates not working, noise, filth etc. It ends by saying "it's not that bad." Do you want to rent from a nice, clean, friendly, well kept, safe apartment community' Or, do you want a place that's "not that bad'"

I've lived at The Terraces at Towne Lake since fall of 2006. I rented the apartment without looking at it, because the apartment that I wanted was "being renovated" after the last resident had left. When I arrived, I had one day to either move in, or find another place. I had no choice other than move in because my furniture was on my truck and my help only had one day.

Upon arriving, I noticed as I walked into the breezeway that it was filthy. Upon entering the apartment, I was shocked at it's condition. The carpet was very worn and dirty. It was so loose in the hallway that the loose humps in the carpet were a trip hazard. The shower was filthy, the towel rod bent all the way to the wall, and there was mold in the shower and on all of the windows and deck door. The paint is dingy.

There have been ceiling collapses because of leaky plumbing, damaging apartments for three floors. My apartment smells so much like mold that I have began to have frequent problems with respiratory problems, and even my dog has been ill. There is dog poop on the grassy areas so bad that you can't walk on them at night. And for the first time in my dog's life, it's been sick after spending time in the pet park.

The lighting is very poor. Parking lot flood lighting on almost all of the buildings either doesn't work at all, or points straight down the side of the buildings so that it does no good. Due to poor lighting, I have personal experience that the parking lots are unsafe. The police are here frequently either to arrest some for a hit and run in the parking lot, trespassing in the pools or other dark areas using drugs, making meth, loud parties, fights, etc. I would feel more safe in some ghettos than in this complex.

Response to requests to repair non-working lighting, find a solution to the mold and filth problems have consistently been ignored. Requests to have residents and those that sneak in through the non-working security gates have also been ignored. People regularly jump the pool fences and have loud, parites in the early morning hours at the pools. Although the minimum age for coming unescorted to the pools is 16, many residents allow minor children (under 10 years old) to come to the pool alone and expect the other adults to watch them. When it is reported, nothing is done. Usually, no one shows up unless the police are called. Also people sneak in after the office closes with glass bottles, and on a couple of occasions a man goes to the pool with his labrador retreiver and swims with it.

Also, it is impossible to play tennis because skateboarders from the complex, the sub-division across the street, and anyone else that wants to wander in have taken over the courts. It is usually filled with skateboarders, and others on bicycles or three wheelers.

The "security" gates are a joke. Every resident that I have spoken with has complained that they do not work. In the 8 or so months that I have lived in the Terraces at Towne Lake, the gates have not worked for 5 consecutive days. In the 240 or so days that I have lived here, I'd gamble that the gates have been inoperative for at least 220 of them. Management says they're being worked on. Nothing so far has been done to make them work.

A painting and cleaning project is currently underway. The people that are doing the job are leaving loose boards loose, and not cleaning up their mess. On one building a newly painted board hangs periously about 3 inches above someone's deck, while in the same area another board was painted although one end is warped almost a foot from the building. The hallways, were pressure washed. While free of loose dirt, they are still streaked and dirty in many areas.

This is not a rant against The Terraces at Towne Lake. It is a statement of facts. If you want to live in a place where you and your car and home are unsafe at night due to the lights being out due to poor maintenance, if you don't mind an occasional fight, constantly dealing with drunks at the pool, babysitting for parents that don't want to go to the pool with their kids, being unable to use the tennis courts because of bikers and skateboarders, being awakened at all hours because of loud parties or speeding in the parking lots, The Terraces may make a decent place for you to live.

But, if you want to live in a clean, safe, well maintained, well managed complex, you should probably look elsewhere.

If you have a question, please feel free to respond.

I hate this place. I have felt in danger of fire and property damage due to irresponsible neighbors since I moved here.
