Not quite a ghetto - but far, far from paradise

We have lived at the Terraces three years and are on our last lease. Before each lease is due, the staff become very friendly and they do make you feel that you are truly home. Same when they are wooing you to move in. HOWEVER ... after the "honeymoon" (which is very, very short) they become less helpful and in some cases, even hateful. We are not writing as "disgruntled customers" - we just want to get the facts out there. Here goes: There is dog poop everywhere and often the dog poop bag holders are empty and/or the pails are overflowing. The grounds are littered -- for some reason they cannot hold on to a grounds person. BTW - they have only one. Try to get a parking spot anywhere near your apartment in the evenings - really fun when it is raining and cold and you have just purchased groceries. Friday and Saturday nights you will find any number of very loud parties going on until late in the night and there are some strange goings-on outside. When driving through the complex in the daytime (and sometimes at night), you have to dodge kids of all sizes. My greatest fear is hitting someone's child as they dash out between cars on skateboards. You cannot drop off garbage on school mornings for all the kids and their moms blocking the exit from the complex while waiting for the bus. Sometimes you can barely get out of the complex. And try to turn in when Woodstock Middle and High School students are going to or coming from school or events. I have counted 18 buses in front of me before getting to the light to turn in and then missed three lights because of traffic exiting the school. This is not a gated community. The gates have not worked in a very long time. At one point, the gates were open coming into the complex but you were stopped leaving! Then there is the rent -- it will ALWAYS go up. Water is higher because you go through a "middleman" instead of directly with the water company. This is probably true of most apartments, though. And God help you if you have a financial problem because you will get no sympathy from the office staff! Often you will see evidence of evictions piled up by the trash bin - so sad - especially when you see children's stuff.
We are not sure how other apartment complexes are -- they may operate in the same manner. We just want everyone to know that while this place is not quite yet a ghetto, it is definitely heading in that direction. We also want those who choose to move here to do so with open eyes so that they are not disappointed as we were.

I am soooo with you on your comments about this place. I walk and when office staff come by on there golf carts they don't even acknowledge you with a hello a wave, nadda.....Poor repor for the property I'd say.
I agree with the Land Mines as I call them ( DOG POO ) and the shady happenings here. I have witness quite a few illegal things here. Not a place I would recommend to anyone. Oh you got that RIGHT WE ARE NOT A GATED COMMUNITY.....Call them and they will tell you they are.....
take care....Unhappy tenant
