Altoona Terrace

While the grounds may be well-kept, the interior of the Altoona Terrace Apartments is in need of renovation and updates. If you like the look of 20-year old wood trim and appliances, along with the headaches of leaking ceilings, walls and bathrooms - this place may be for you.

The management generally is well-mannered and professional. They do take care of the grounds well. As far as maintenance goes, expect delays on most work done, but the job will eventually get completed. You generally are treated well until you decide not to sign a new lease - in which case you will be hassled to either a)sign a new lease or b)pay for odds and ends which eventually reduce your deposit to zero, even if you followed all the regulations.

Parking is adequate, however can become cramped unless you arrive before the evening rush. Lighting could be increased at night to provide a better feeling of safety. While there are multiple doors blocking your entrance into each building, each apartment inside the building is locked poorly with easily-picked locks and thin wood doors.

Very few conveniences with older appliances and community laundry facilities which consist of only one washer and dryer per floor.

Not the greatest place, but not the worst if you need a place for one year, which is the minimum lease offered. Look elsewhere if you want to be completely content with your stay.
