On the day I signed the lease, I was shown the nice screensaver that the ambience is nice and all the tenent follow the rules of the community. Later when I went tell the laundry is being used until mid-night and even after that I was not given any importance after insisting the only step the landlord took was put a notice that do nothing good. I asked if she (Ms. Paula Shriver) can put automatice power-off device for which she denied by telling they are expensive (good care''). I was never given the solution for this problem and I face it even while writing this review and laundry being in use at this hour of night. Moreover, I had often observed Ms. Shriver solving the complaint by telling you that you are having something wrong so dont raise your voice. Instead of providing solution she believes in black-mailing tenents. She also practices racial descrimination favoring Americans over the foreigners in terms of service provided. She has all of her good apartments given only to American citizens (good for you if you are one) but poorly maintained and unconditioned apartments for foreigners like me. She signs lease with tenents who have their car-workshop in the parking lot and who would be inviting their apparently unauthorised friends to repair, refurbish their cars everyday. Ms. Shriver just ignores things which means loss of business to her without giving any priority to trouble that causes to the other tenents. The Car-workshop is going on since before I came here and again there is no one listening at the office. Think before you plan to move here. Yes, you will pay less rent you will be attracted by some of the facilities that are included in the rent. However, do think of the trouble and lack of mental peace that you will be facing due to unethical practices of the Landlord herself. Ms. Shriver is just concerned with her rent. She has zero-tolerence policy for the pet at anywhere in the premises of South Meadow Apartments though, there are several tenents living before I came and some afterwards who have pets and they move everywhere with them. There are many examples to show that Ms. Shriver go beyond the written policies of her own to entertain the tenents just for the sake of money. There is no Discipline at all and even despite knowing this she just let goes off it. Do NOT waste your money, mental peace and safety for the low rent. I am also counting my time until the end of my lease and then I am moving to another location where I have already signed the lease. I came to know of this forum just now and so is writing today else, I am sure I would have helped many who are now being trapped. But still there are many of you who would be alert after reading my real life experience. I have had many apartments rented before coming over to Ames though, nowhere I had seen a landlord who compromises just for the sake of money. She is also known to sign lease with known criminals and then you are always seeing the cops hovering around and I would never leave my kids alone to play outside with the fear of some unfortunate. South Meadow Apartments and Ms. Shriver as a landlord is good only for those who can afford to compromise with their safety, security and mental peace.
