Why Ames Has this place'

The apartments aren't maintained nice. in the last week of April we got a notice from landlord that they are going to do some repair/replace work in the bedroom closet and bathroom (once in 3 year!). After this was done we got another notice from the landlord stating that on April 30th, we will have our apartments inspected by the City Muncipal Office and we should keep the house clean, safe and presentable. The city municipal officer came and checked for just the two things that were replaced in the week before the inspection that is, the thing in bathroom and bedroom closent. Landlord is certainly highly influencial in corrupting the city officials that they come and check only the things that are being taken care nothing other than that.
Moreover, recent flood was an example of landlord's selfishness. When I signed the lease, I had specially asked for the natural disasters like flood etc and what they do in such case to safeguard the interests of their tenents. I have witnessed the 1993 flood in Ames, IA and I know the damage it had done so was very particular about this question. I was told that they call their tenents at their numbers and inform them to safeguard their belongings in the apartment and on the road. However, on the May 30th, 2008 none was exercised by the landlord. All what the landlord was doing was busy evacuating and saving her own stuff. Had she would have followed on the promise she delivered I would have certainly not lost my 2 cars of which one was parked right behind her office port. I never got a phone call nor my cars were dragged out. My both cars were in neutral gear they could have been simply pushed away from the water. Now, my both cars are totalled a loss of around $30000. I would never ever recommend this place and any property by this landlord to anyone in my knowledge. I know there are others too who to lost their car or cars however, I felt very bad when Ms. Paula Shriver (landlord) broke her promise that she made when I was signing my lease. She just showed that she is not interested in saving her tenant's interest rather is interested in only money. I am going to sue her and if any one of you wants to join me, I would be glad. Now, I ride in my friend's car and when I part it outside my apartment even for a single hour, I am always on my toes to be watchful.
I would strongly urge all those who are to look at the apartment for living in Ames, that they refrain from being the client of Shriver Rental Property. Do NOT live in any of their properties in Ames or anywhere!
Thanks,
Suffering Tenent of South Meadow Apartments

I live here and enjoy it. It's not their problem that your cars were a loss due to the floods on May 30th. That's why you have insurance. They DID knock on everyone's doors to let them know to move their vehicles. What more could they do??
Suing? Ha. Good luck with that.
