Can't say I enjoyed my experience living in the Courts for 2 years

I lived in the building with the apartment that got destroyed by an arsener a couple years ago. I lived right across the hall where the fire broke out. This was around 5:30 in the morning when this happened. I am still completely terrified of fire and can't even go around candles because of this incident. I keep playing back in my head about my friend shouting "get out, there's a fire" and knowing that just 15 seconds longer she could've been dead...actually, all 25 of us residents living there at that time could've been dead. Thankfully the fire was contained to only that unit, but it caused water damage to a few of the other apartments and smoke damage to every single apartment in the building. What is even scarier is that the management never did anything to make the apartment building more secure after this, and it took them about 5 months to start the clean-up and repair process when they should've started it a couple weeks later. The entire building smelled like smoke until they defumigated the apartment 4 months after the fire was started. I honestly think this is the reason for my breathing problems, as well. The security is the worst security you could ever find. They don't care about the safety of the residents. They just care about making a few extra bucks and making their quotas for tickets that are impossible to appeal. And the management is nice (at least Donna is) but they could care less about the tenants. I complained so many times about my roommates constantly partying and keeping me up until 4 in the morning but they never listened to my complaints. And you can't kick your roommates out because you have individual leases. And the noise level and drug use in this complex was just outrageous. My suggestion, don't rent here. It's a waste of your money, even if they are the cheapest apartments around the Kwood campus.

Security has NO quota for violations issued. Violations are issued based on rules YOU agree to in your lease that YOU have broken. And safety is number one, but the people that complain are usually the ones that are causing the problems/ safety risk. There are numerous crimes that security has prevented, and/or stopped that go untold. Its not our job to answer to students. And most things we deal with only management and ourselves know.

So you're saying that going to class on a daily basis and studying every single night (even on the weekends) is breaking the rules? Yeah, I may have had my music up a little loud once in a while and was found possessing alcohol a couple times. I'm not perfect. I paid the fines. But if you're trying to accuse me of being a threat to the safety and security of others then you need a reality check. I got straight A's when I was at Kirkwood and that is because I AM NOT a partier and I DO NOT drink except on occasion. And when I do drink I have no more than a can or two of beer because I have acid reflux disease and alcohol affects me differently than most normal people who don't have that problem. So good day!
