Good First Choice... or so I thought

This was my first apartment and I was pleased with living here. In winter, the snow/ice removal has been quick and well-done. Having access to the fitness center/pool is a great perk- there is rarely anyone in the pool when I swim!
As a pet owner, I was very happy to find a complex where pets are welcome and the rent is not prohibitively expensive. Many residents here do have small dogs, which is something any future tenant needs to be aware of. However, I have not had any problems with noisy dogs or children- neighbors are quite respectful.
My complaints, however, have come up primarily in the past few months. My apartment was newly renovated and the new appliances work great and the apartment is aesthetically pleasing. However, the paint quality, as well as the window insulation quality, leave something to be desired. Neither are unbearable, but could have been done better. The laundry is overpriced, though convenient. A relative sent me a package which was picked up by someone else (no ID check!). I became more concerned about safety after some car break-ins and vandalism occurred within the complex. Several residents had dogs far above the weight limit- which didn't seem to concern the management at all. I moved out a few days early and the manager at the office assured me if there were any issues, I would be called. To my surprise, almost a month after I moved out, I received a bill for several hundred dollars worth of damage. I inquired into the charges and was presented with photos that documented the minority (<$100) of the damage, but was given no evidence of the other, more serious damage that I was sure I had not done.
