Fairly roomy on the inside for the price. The apartments aren't bad, although the new owners will not pay for any repair that they can avoid. They look worse on the outside than inside. The resident manager and handyman are overworked and badly underpaid but they do their best. The greatest thing is the huge land around the apartments where you can walk your dogs. Dog poop is a problem but some of us pick up after our own dogs and even others but you've got to watch your step. There are 10 8-plexes paired off so that 2 8-plexes face each other with a yard between. Behind the buildings is a very large area of open land, partly grass-covered hill, partly wild brush & trees -- the "garden" with a path cut through. Beyond the "garden" is an unused dirt road and undeveloped land owned by the University of Iowa. There are some chances for well socialized dogs to meet and play together. A few of the people who live here are "trailer trash" but many others are quiet older people and immigrants from India and Central America. On the whole it's been fairly quiet -- certainly more so than living near students in Iowa City. I saw 5 deer yesterday afternoon at the edge of the woods and the place abounds with rabbits an occasional possum and every now and then a few turkeys come to visit. I just hope they don't tear these apartments down as the area continues to build up, but given the almost total neglect by the owners that's probably the fate for these older and reasonable apartments.
