Rent is high for the small size and the heating bills are very high. There is very little insulation and the furnaces are very old. The filters are not changed on a regular basis.
In the winter, the sidewalks and parking lots are not cleared after a snowstorm until 12-24 hours later After talking to other renters, I have no doubt a lot of the good reviews on here are fake.
Manager is rude.

I have lived here for 3 years and let me clear a few things up. This tenet was obviously evicted. The grounds are maintained well, all year round. Every morning at 5 am the manager is awake and makes sure that in the winter everything is shoveled (which he does himself) and plowed first thing in the morning. My average bill for heat/air is $45, I'm sorry if you can't swing that. The filters are switched every February and June and can be switched more frequently if you request, free of charge. I can say that the manager is more than kind and often throws events for the community in an attempt to create better relationships between the tenets here. The manager is prompt in handling problems and is even available if you just need an ear or a little chit chat. I have never had a problem with either the office staff, maintenance or other tenets. As far as 'fake' reviews, this isn't possible and here's why: your ISP address is recorded with your review and can't be used to create more than one. Do a little research before you start throwing around accusations. Also, the rent in Sherman Hill is higher than most of the apartments in Des Moines because it's an extremely nice neighborhood. The rent at Pleasant Court is much lower than most of the other apartments available in this neighborhood. You can most certainly research this as there are rent prices listed for other apartment complexes on this very site. I highly recommend these apartments and have no interest in renting from anyone else, we've been spoiled here!
