I have many complaints about University Terrace Apartments. The smallest is probably the proximity to University Avenue--no big deal to me, but to those who want a quiet apartment, it's a problem. The 42nd St fire station is a few blocks away, so there are constantly sirened vehicles blazing past. Many of the tenants are unfriendly and loud, and my neighbors smoke a lot of pot. Again, not a big problem, except that it fills the hallway (and sometimes my apartment) with the smell. Parking is ridiculous. One night, I went to bed to the sounds of a group of people arguing loudly in a lawn about something, and I was delighted to hear them talking about whether they wanted to bring guns into it.

Of most concern to me is the quality of the building. When you sign a lease, you sign a release about lead paints. They say that the paint has been sealed...but the walls have peeling and chipped paint EVERYWHERE. Awesome. I was told that the carpets were professionally cleaned before I moved in, despite the large dark spots on the floor. However, a simple application of Resolve Carpet Cleaner removed the worst of them, so they obviously weren't cleaned at all. The bathroom window (um, IN the shower) leaks and becomes filled with water from the shower. Mold is a big problem, no matter how hard I try to clean the shower.

The other review pretty much covers the rest. For the money, you can find much better places to live in the area.
