I lived in lakeside for years only because I had no money. I'm not a bitter ex renter and I'm not exaggerating, lakeside is a slum, I rented a studio, and like all the apartments the build stank horribly, the fixtures in the apartment were all recycled from other apartments, the first clue is the jimmy marks on all the doors, when I lived there back in the 90's the place was bad but I imaging it's still the same, when it rained my light fixtures would fill with water, the ceiling panels would fall out. The roaches there were horrendous (I threw most of my stuff away when I moved because I didn t want to take them with me) You can request a bug bomb, but the staff also will do it without you re permission, I came home after work and opened my door to have a cloud of poison roll out over me they set off "three" bug bombs in my 350 sq foot apt, one is enough to cover a house, I was sick for two days and had to wash everything I owned and throw away a lot of my clothes. The noise was another thing, loud music gunshots my building was full of immigrant workers on temporary visa's, on weekend they would open up all of the doors to their pats and throw parties, after, the hall would be filled with cigarette butts and beer cans urine and puke, people put the garbage in the halls and other thing to numerous to mention, I'm not lying this actually happened, this review should come as no surprise to any one familiar with Iowa city, everybody know' about lakeside, I'm not worried about hurting anyone s feelings the people who work there do not live there and would not care anyway, the maintenance is non existent. When my bathroom light switch stopped working, I had to shower in the dark for three day's, after five calls and no response from the office, I finally fixed it my self, unless you re just out of jail or have a serious drug habit, stay in a homeless shelter before renting here if you decide to anyway viol con dais
