I am a graduate student that moved to Iowa City from out of state to go to the U. of I. So, needlesstosay, I did not know the Lakeside reputation. I will summarize briefly: excessive mold growth in EVERY SINGLE room, half of the electrical outlets do not work, drug-dealing ex-convict neighbors, kitchen and bathroom faucets leak water onto floors causing water damage, staples shooting up out of carpet, door lock sometimes will not work, screens in windows torn up, windows so drafty that ice appears INSIDE of apartment, rumors that maintenance steals from renters, cars often broken into, police out here almost everyday due to crime, etc. This list is not exhaustive---you get the point. Lakeside is a pretty crappy place. I would only live here if my other choice was the streets or my car.
