Small and Overpriced

Basically, for a college town, Seville's not a bad place, but it's a bit overpriced for a two bedroom ($650 for 775 square feet). It's one of the nicer places close to the school. Otherwise you have to commute. The fact that Seville's one of the nicer places is really sad.

Our biggest complaint is parking. It's really, really horrible! You are allotted one parking space per apartment (my wife and I each had a car), so we had to use the overflow lot (two buildings away) for one of the cars or try to find a guest parking place nearby but make sure not to leave the car there for more than 24 hours, lest the car be ticketed/towed. Sometimes, we came home and found someone in our assigned space. Our only recourse was to call the police and wait for the tow trucks. We once waited two hours one time for the tow truck to come and tow the illegally parked car! And when you don't have any place else to park in the meantime, that's a long time to wait.

My wife complains that the apartment's closets and bathrooms are tiny. Also, the storage Seville offers is a joke and requires having to beat other tenants to pad lock a storage unit that's 4x4x3 and a door that's not even the size of the unit (in other words, it's hard to store large objects so that they pass through the door even though the inner storage footage is fine).

We didn't have many maintenance issues. The only issue we really had was that the heat went out in the living room. The maintenace people are nice but something tells us that if we had had serious issues, we might have had problems.

Management changed hands twice in the two years we were there. The earlier management was nicer than the management present when we left.

We didn't have any problems with other tenants and barely saw them, though we often heard the kids of the family BELOW us (not above, since we were on the third floor) jumping on their beds and getting their butts beat by their parents.

There are two pools, but we never used them and therefore can't comment on them.

The things we sacrificed for a good education at The University of Iowa ...
