It is okay to live

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008

I lived in the Seville APT from 2005 to 2008 and left Iowa City last year. I was a little surprised at the previous bad reviews because the Seville was one of the great apartments in Iowa City when I first came to Iowa in 2003. The rent was a little expensive for the building condition, but it includes heating and AC, which is good. My neighbors were quiet and kind. But you should expect loud neighbors because Iowa City is a college town. Management was responsive. Problems were usually fixed in 24 hours. And they got rid of snow very quickly. One parking space was given and a couple of guest parking lots were also available in front of buildings. Especially there were plenty of guest parking lots between 800 and 810 buildings. But they were filled very quickly whenever there was a football game, which I hated most. The staff were okay. Two ladies in the main office were neither kind nor unkind, just so so. Gentlemen and ladies responsible for maintenance and cleaning were very kind and efficient. One thing I didn't like was air conditioning. If you live on the first or second floor, I don't think this will be a problem. But if you live on the third floor, it is a different story. The air conditioner wasn't strong enough to cool the living room and bedrooms because of the heat from the roof. From June to August was pretty much nightmare whenever night temperature was above 80. Overall, I really enjoyed living in the Seville APT.

When I left Iowa City last year, I noticed that people got a lot better apartments with a little more money in Iowa City. In addition, my friends who are still living in the Seville started to get some serious problems like leaking and even a ceiling collapse in the bathroom. They should take this into account very seriously to keep their business successful because newer and better apartments seemed to be all over the place in Iowa City and the Seville APT is getting old.
