THE GHETTO OF URBANDALE!!!

This place blows. The water situation is unstable. The parking is out of control. They won't let you have a small dog which is smart and decent enough to go outside, but you can have a dog if your Liz' daughter(the apartment manager). Not to mention in the 3600 building there is this ridiculously fat ass orange tabby cat named Bailey that attacks people for walking around. I'm not kidding either, this thing weighs like 30 pounds! He'll come to your patio door meowing wanting in and will not leave! I cracked my door open enough to stick the broomstick out to push him away and he attacked it. Of course Liz' fat ass in the office won't do anything about it. People leave garbage on their patio and balcony. We had maggots falling onto our patio from the people above us at one point. One good point to mention that Liz is a pothead, and will openly tell you so, and that it is "o.k. to have some smoke, but any powder and your outta here!!!". Nice right' Here is Liz' finest point. She likes to rent movies...from your apartment! Countless people have caught her in there apartment when they came home. I keep a huge glass jar full of change in my bedroom, and at one point I dumped it out counted $63.65 all silver. No pennies. Caught her coming out of my apartment a week later she said the upstairs neighbors were complaining about my television being too loud. Which is hilarious being that I am a Buddhist and choose to read over t.v. and do not own a t.v. Just a personal choice. So after she stumbles all over herself trying to cover up and hurries up out of there I realized later that she had taken twelve bucks in quarters out of my jar! Damn pothead. Other neighbors have noticed DVD's not in their cases when they go to watch them and considered them lost. Then a couple weeks later the DVD magically re-appeared.
These places are ok as far as looks go. There is a lady in the building I lived in also on the second floor who takes care of the pool. This person will come around begging for food for her kids. Be warned. Every time someone close to her balcony fired up their grill her and her kids would come out "your killing us up here!"-"that smells so good!"-"We're starving!!!" etc. No shame whatsoever. She asked me for cigarettes countless times knowing I don't smoke which was a set up to ask to borrow five bucks. Her kids are ultra-obnoxious. I mean, WOW!
The appliances are antiques and don't work properly. I didn't get to use my dishwasher more than a month out of the three years I was there. The ventilation over the stove didn't work and squealed. Water pressure was horrible. Inconsistent in temperature also. The toilet is always clogging, needing plunged.
This is a great point to mention. Liz will gladly accept any packages in the office for you. Then keep them. I got a package once through fed-ex. I was out of town. Knew this was coming. Get back, stop right at the office knowing it was there. Liz says "nope, nothing here for ya bud!" I go to my apartment and look online and sure enough it had been delivered and signed for. Further investigation proved that it was Liz who signed for my package. She just kept it. I filed a report with fed ex, and two months later it was resolved. Liz pleaded the fifth. Lost cause.
In closing, I would like to emphatically encourage you to look elsewhere in your search for your next home. I could go on all day. It will seem o.k. when you first look at an apartment during office hours. There will be parking because its daytime/office hours. Then you'll move in and walk about a 100 feet at best. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything. People are inconsiderate. Rude. Thieves lurk in the parking lot at night. The little white boys of Urbandale that for whatever reason think they are gangbangers leave broken beer bottles in the parking lot, while blasting that crap. I mean rap. The police are there at least four times a week. You'll hear more domestic disputes than you can imagine. Etc, etc, etc. Do yourself a favor. If you can't afford any place better, take a second job. You get what you pay for. This place is a ghetto.

I have lived at Parkway for a year, and I would have to say I have had none of these problems. Nothing has come up missing, my appliances work great, all my neighbors have been super friendly, and I have never seen a thief or gang-banger in the parking lot. I think it is a nice place to live, with an awesome location, and rent is very reasonable. I haven't had any problems with Liz, the landlord, either. She has always been helpful in my encounters with her.
