Your Worst Nightmare

I am actually a tenant of TurtleCreek, another complex run by Richdale. Basically, they are the same pieces of expensive crap, so I'd thought I share my opinion here as well. If interested check out the opinions at TurtleCreek in West Des Moines. These apartments are your worst nightmare.
I just laugh at the advertisements in local papers of the many amenities they boast of this place. It really is such a joke. First of all unless you are a heavy fireplace user, the fireplace is just another opening in addition to the poorly installed windows and patio doors that lets drafts of cold air into your apartment. With plastic on my windows and the patio door foamed shut my utilities average about $120/month for a 620 sq ft apartment. Second, they advertise attached garages. However, my attached garage is located in another building across the way. It?s like $50 buck additional to their sky high rent and there is no discount attached or not. I use this garage mainly for storage which was not the best idea as I did not realize that the ground isn?t level so the garage floods every time it rains. What else, the ?roman soaking tubs? are made of cheap fiber glass. Apparently my 115 lbs is too much weight as I have cracked the tub. I cannot wait for that cost to be deducted from my deposit. My washer and dryer are in the middle of my gourmet aka tiny kitchen. I thought this would be okay at first but the dryer is very loud. I believe this is because the kitchen is small and the high ceilings and tiled floored cause loud vibrations to echo throughout the apartment. Basically, I have to schedule my laundry during times that I workout or leave to run errands. Still, having a washer in the apartment is a nice feature. I only wished the dryer worked a little better as my clothes are never completely dry. The high ceilings do make my apartment feel bigger. However, it makes it impossible to clean the constant spider webs that surface as well as change any light bulbs that go out. Maintenance is terrible here and the office staff is only concerned about collecting rent. This place appears to be a nice place but it is far from ?exceptional living?. I would say if you want a place to showoff to people, this would be it. If you want a place that is livable and affordable look elsewhere. You will be unhappy here.

To this review and to the other "not recommend" reviews, I think they're right, unfortunately. I went and checked them out yesterday night and I was shown around. It might be a good place if you get a two bedroom, those might be different, but for a one bedroom, its pretty bad. The bedroom is smaller than my three bedroom I have now, the washer/dryer is in the kitchen and I would be afraid to hit it with the refrigerator door, and my biggest problem was the giantic WALL MIRROR on the livingroom wall....was this place built in the 70s? And the silly price differences between floors makes you live on the second, with the garages below you....which I was told wouldnt have to be yours, so aka you might be woken up in the middle of the night by a garage door. Just yucky! I took Saddlebrook and Turtlecreek off my list of good apartments.
