SaddleBrook

We moved to Des Moines when our home in Wisconsin was sold and the buyers wanted immediate occupancy. Not sure where we wanted to live, we leased an appartment at SaddleBrook so that we could look around for a permanent residence.
We were certainly dissapointed in the way the SaddleBrook staff handled ourleaving. Our lease was up at the end of April, 2005. I was transfered and notified the office on March 3rd that we would not be renewing our lease. The girl at the office said that I should have notifed them on the 1st, so I might be responsible for a months lease. Being only two days from that date, I objected, and she said someone would be in from corporate in the next two days, and I could talk to them. I advised her to give me a call when that corporate person came in. By the 5th, I had not received a call, so I went back over to the office to see when this corporate person would be in. I was advised that they had come and gone. I asked about getting our deposit back, and she said, "Don't worry about it, it's all taken care of." I had no idea that she was lying to me. I fully beleived that we would be getting our deposit back.
So here we are, miles away and dealing with a corporate office that uses local "innocent looking" representatives
to hoodwink renters into believing thier tales.
If you rent of lease from Saddlebrook, pay the minimum deposlit (I here they nogiciate prices) as it seems to become a lost item.

Saddlebrook does indeed negotiate deposit prices, as well as rental rates. Their leasing agents are trained to call their regional manager for the final say on how much is to be charged, when in question. In accordance with the Iowa law, no more than two months rent may be obtained as a rental deposit. This review was posted by a former tenant with a complete email address, not anonymously. The people that post reviews on this site do so to advise you of their experience. If they include their email address, and do not post it anonymously, I think I would have good faith that their story is true. Saddlebrook, TurtleCreek, and The Richdale Group are about revenue, not you. Are you (the one responding) a current resident? How flexible are they in negotiating the rental rates?
