I moved in on August 1st, 2008, so at the time of this posting I have been at the Fountains for nearly 2 and a half months, ample time to gauge the community. First and foremost, I have been thoroughly impressed with the office and maintenance staff on all accounts. They were up front and honest from the get go, they return any call or e-mail promptly and the upkeep on the apartments and the grounds seems to be routine and timely. Anyone who visits mentions how big the apartment is. This one-bedroom apartment is spacious, comfortable and filled with plenty of light from the many windows. I have a deck with an outside storage space, plus a washer & dryer right here in the apartment, which is very nice and one of the reasons I chose the Fountains over all the other places I looked at in West and North Des Moines. These are nice, large apartments close to everything needed in West Des Moines and sixty seconds away from I-35/80. I get to work in 8-minutes flat and use up a tank of gas every 3 to 3.5 weeks, which is a HUGE plus. Before I moved in, they made sure the apartment was immaculate with fresh paint and cleaned carpets. It looks brand new.

Things to note, but not linger on: Occasionally I can hear my upstairs neighbor walking around on squeaky floorboards, but that's it. I hear none of the other neighbors around me and I'm in the center of the building. At night it's extremely quiet. It can be difficult to find a parking space late at night during the week, but the management is working on that problem currently and I understand how difficult it is to police up non-residents spending the night.

The pool is beautiful, the weight room is great and if you manage to get an apartment over-looking the pond, you're set with a nearly idyllic community setting with all the amenities of West Des Moines at your fingertips. I haven't lived in an apartment for over 10 years until now and I would recommend this community to anyone looking for a new apartment!
