Worst Apartment We Have Ever Lived In.

The staff was very friendly and nice when it came time to sign the paper work. After signing the paper work we asked if they recommended any cable and internet providers. They handed me a flyer for a company called Vision Systems, which had a package deal for 6 months where you would get cable, internet, and phone for about $90.00 a month. Since my wife and I have our cell phones we never used the landline phone but we needed it anyway as part of the package. Upon installation of the services, we came to understand that by calling to have the "Mega Bundle" installed, we apparently verbally agreed to a 6 month contract that wouldn't allow us to switch to anyone else. During our experiences with Vision Systems, we had to call them 5 times to come out and fix our Dish Network, which was through them. Our Dish service would go out 4-5 times a day and was very unreliable. Our internet was very slow, and our phone rang off the hook with telemarketers...I never even used the phone once, nor did my wife. After completing our 6 months with Vision Systems, I called Mediacom to see if they serviced our apartment. They said they did so I scheduled them to come out and hook up service to our apartment. I then called Vision Systems to tell them we would be canceling our service with them. Mediacom came out to install the cable, and internet (for $60 a month) found out that they couldn't get into the cable box because it was contracted out to Vision Systems only. No one ever told us that we HAD to choose Vision Systems when we moved in. It also turns out that its not EVERY building that has to use Vision Systems...Its only on select buildings...Had I known that I would have requested a different building where I could choose who I wanted.
Another complaint that we have about Sun Prairie Apartments is the loud neighbors. We have neighbors that live below us who apparently don't know that at 3:00 AM on a Wed night, people will be sleeping. They have loud parties numerous days during the week which include loud music, and yelling. I have called and complained about these tenants 5 times to no avail. They even had a dog that barked non-stop, and scratched at the door for about an hour, at 11:00 PM. Dogs are not allowed at these apartments, but apparently the management doesn't really care if you break the rules...they just give you 7 days to fix the problem after a complaint is issued. These tenants also have a problem with slamming their door. Every night we can hear, and feel our whole apartment shake, when they slam their door (which is probably 20 times a night). Also, we can hear every footstep that is taken from the tenants above us. These buildings are poorly constructed.
We are non-smokers, however, this building allows smoking. On numerous occasions we have found cigarette butts and ashes all over our deck and furniture. We called and complained about this too but the problem has yet to be fully taken care of.
Another complaint we have is the parking. Good luck trying to find a parking space in the same zip code as your building after 6:00 PM, unless you have a handicap tag. It seems like there are about half as many spots as the number of apartments.
We have been here for just about a year, and it has been the worst apartment experience we have ever had. We signed a 6-month contract which has expired, therefore increasing our rent. We have also been informed that our rent is going to be increasing yet again. These apartments are not worth paying over $800 a month for. We will be moving to a higher class area in April. I would NOT recommend this to anyone...you get what you pay for and this place attracts riff-raff and low income tenants.

They suckered you on the vision systems. The reason why is sun party gets a commission. Otherwise nobody in their right mind would hook a t.v. up to that garbage.

You are very right in all that you claim! I luckily bought a house recently, and was able to move the heck out of there. All seemed good when you look at the apartments during the day. Rule of thumb from here on out for anyone looking at these apartments, would be to drive thru the parking lots at night when most people are home...take a look at the type of beat up cars that are double parked everywhere, then you can guess what type of people are "hanging out" partying all night. Also, we fond numerous used condoms laying on the sidewalk in front of our main enterance door. Nice. And yes, we had 2 or 3 dogs living in my building...that were reported to have been taking poops all over the courtyard, but nothing was ever done about that either.
