My husband and I lived in Turtle Creek for two years. Since they allow small dogs, we were allowed to have two 8 pound chihuahuas as long as we paid the $300 for each dog. Fine. I threw down $800 deposit and $600 for dogs which totals to $1400. $300 of the pet deposit is non-refundable so we had $1100 that could be returned to us after we moved out. When we got our check in the mail, I was more than surprised. Words can't describe my thoughts when I saw a check for $65!!!!!!!!!

That was just the icing on the cake at this place. When we lived there, I had two rent checks lost, a UPS package signed in by the office and then lost, and a very rude manager who has no customer service. We had broken windows the entire time we lived there, and the hot tub was broken both years. The only two things I enjoyed about that place was the bathroom and the fitness center.

My husband and I recently broke our lease and moved out. Since we had dogs, I feel as if they saw that as an opportunity to lie about the condition of our carpet. They said they had to replace all of the carpet because of the dogs. What the hell is pet rent and deposit for? Plus, the carpet was in good condition when we moved out! I had even requested in writing to be present at the final walk through and they never contacted me! We are currently fighting back and have hired a lawyer. We are willing to go to court.

These reviews are so right-on with my experience, that the only joy I have received in my year lease with Turtle Creek is that other people were just as miserable and got treated with the same degree of disrespect.

To the people who wrote these posts, as well as anyone else in this situation, please e-mail me at lcknauf76@yahoo.com. My wife and I are also planning on taking legal action, if for not other reason than to shed light on what a corrupt management group Richdale is.

I was told (after being hung up on twice) that the carpet in my apartment had only been there for two years, that it had a lifetime warranty, and that my little 8 lb. dog was the sole cause of the damage. What is interesting is the fact that they admitting to moving us in with stains already on the carpet. So if they pulled the same BS on the resident before us and made he or she pay, where did that money go? It certainly didn't go to repair our carpet.

I want to see deposit statements of those in the apartment before me, what was and what wasn't paid for, and the supposed cost of said "repairs". Furthermore, I want to see the actual percentage of damage deposits that are actually paid back or returned in a give year. This is the biggest scam job I've ever seen...and I've built two houses!

Turtle Creek has the nerve to say that we owe them $400 for the replacement of the carpet!! WHat is a deposit for!? Plus we lived there for almost 3 years so the carpet damage is NORMAL wear and tear for 3 years of living on it, especially when it's the cheap carpet that soaks in any and all stains like they installed. We'd like to fight this.
