The first mistake that I made was moving into Turtle Creek. The second mistake I made was renewing my lease there ( I had to stay because they were going to jack my rates up through the roof if I didn t renew my lease and I had no one to help me move). The best thing I ever did was move out of Turtle Creek. Sure, they look very nice on the outside, they are new, and the inside of the apartment they show you even looks nice. This is the apartment that they show you though. It is not the apartment they give you. BEWARE before you sign any paperwork. They do not offer to show you your apartment ever.

This is my experience at Turtle Creek:
When I moved in, I asked if I could see the actual apartment I would be moving into before hand. The management told me it was being painted and that we could not go into the apartment for liability reasons. I reluctantly signed my first lease with out seeing my apartment. When I went to the apartment the walls hadn t even been painted and there were nails from the previous resident still in the wall. The apartment was filthy too, cat fur everywhere. The drawers in the bathroom were off the track and one was sitting on the counter. There was also a big spot on the carpet. I sucked it up and moved my belongings in. Then the real problems started. Every single window in my apartment began leaking whenever it rained. The leaking was so bad, that it would spray up onto my bed. It wasn t just water that leaked through the windows though. Air came streaming through the windows too. My energy bills were outrageous! I lived in a small one bedroom apartment and my bills were over $250! The three bedroom, three story house I moved into doesn t even cost that much to heat! That s not including the bills for the cable they force you to get and the water (which you are actually paying for them to water their grass.) Every time I called the office to complain about the windows leaking air or how cold my apartment was they would just tell me that we live in Iowa and that it gets cold here. They were too cheap to fix my windows as well. They told me that I had to go out and buy plastic for my windows, they wouldn t even foot the bill for their windows leaking due to their crappy quality and instillation. Speaking of how crappy that place is. You could hear every single movement that any one of my neighbors made. I have lived in many apartments before, and I know you do hear some things, but I could hear conversations my neighbors were having in the apartment next door, below me, and above me. And lastly there were the bugs! No matter what time of year it was there were spiders, crickets, and even roaches. Every day I would have to vacuum them up! I called the office a few times to complain about the list of problems I was having and nothing ever got done. Their excuse for the bugs was, once again, it s Iowa; we have to coexist with all species. I guess what I m trying to say don t waste your time at this place.

Please learn from my experience as well as the other 100 people who have told their stories about how awful this place is. It s a complete rip off and there are plenty of other apartments in the same area which are much better. Trust me I ve lived in most of them. I wouldn t even recommend Turtle Creek to my worst enemy.
