We moved into Wellington on Sept 1st 2003. We have had nothing but problems since before we even moved in. They didn't even realize that our apartment was open--we had to tell them. The apartment was completely filthy and not even painted. We only moved in because of the good special that they were running. Definitely not worth the $800 plus that they are normally. During the cold winter that we just had, our heat was out at least 5 times. And the parts were always out of stock and on back order. Can't exactly live without heat!!! We spent Valentines day in our bedroom with a space heater to keep us warm cause we had no heat and they didn't come to fix it until the next day. Then the apartment behind us was vacant and they don't run the heat at all when no one lives there--well pipes freeze when you don't have heat running and then they break and flood other peoples apartments--like ours!!! Not fun-1 night without water, Service Master at our apartment ripping up our carpet to clean and all of our living room furniture on one side of our apartment for 3 days. Then the street light in front of our building has been out for 4 months--well they can't find the light bulbs they bought and they don't have enough cash in the "petty cash account" to buy some right now. You can't run an apartment complex this big on a petty cash account! If you are looking at renting here, I suggest that you drive by right now and take a look--grass has only been mowed once this spring and it is the middle of May and the one time they did mow, they didn't do a very good job. Apparently they are working on a contract with a mowing company, but my thought is that should have been worked out while there was still snow on the ground--which brings me to another point. Snow removal is terrible!! They don't know how to plow around here and if you move in, plan on shoveling your own sidewalk and stairs in front of your building. It wasn't done for us once this year at all. And our apartment is right across from one of the model apartments. Then the bug issue. I know that bugs are everywhere, but this is an infestation--ants and spiders!!! And they don't seem to do a thing about it but spray outside. Doesn't really help when they are already inside. Also, insulation is terrible. Very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. Utilites are very expensive and not worth it. There have been plenty of other problems, and I could write a book about them, so just don't move in--the good "specials" they run are not worth your problems and time trying to deal with them. It isn't necessarily the people who work in office here that are the problem although one of them is a few sandwiches shy of a picnic--she isn't too bright. The management company and the owners don't live in Iowa (they are in IL and FL I believe) and only visit once per year from what we can tell so they really have no idea how things go. On a positive note I have had many conservations with Tara (the property manager) and Marsha and they are both great. Tara lives on site and is more than willing to help, but she has to take all of the complaints because she can't get the money to fix anything that goes wrong because the corporate owners/management are a bunch of tight asses. Quite honestly don't know why any of the office people still work here and deal with all the ---- that goes on. I have lived at Westbrooke right down the road on EP True and at Cambridge Court on 11th St in WDM and they have both been wonderful. I would suggest either of those places to everyone!!!
