I don't know how you can sleep at night much less look at yourself in the mirror. The condition of this apartment complex is inexcusable. You let the water bill go unpaid and our water was shut off by the city of West Des Moines! If I call with a maintenance request (and it gets addressed)I am either told "it's not a problem" or it gets half-fixed. You don't get the grass cut.
Less than a month after I moved into my apartment, stains started wicking up through the carpet. Lots of stains. There is mold growing in the closet where my pretend washer and dryer are located. There is mold growing under the vinyl in both bathrooms I was told would be fixed. It hasn't been. On four separate occasions I've had water come into my apartment. Wellington has yet to clean up one drop of it. The window blinds are rotten - one slight bump and they break. The fronts of the drawers are falling off. I asked when the pool would be opened: You first said "hopefully by Memorial Day", then it was "by the end of June". Here it is July 5th and it is not opened. I don't think you plan on opening it - you are just saying things to keep the residents off your back. It took three visits by your maintenance staff before I got someone who knew what the heck they were doing and got my a/c fixed.
And the grass... if I wanted to live in the prairie, I would have moved there. Hasn't anyone told you that tall grass attracts rats and other "things"'
I asked you why you took this job knowing how bad this place was and you told me you wanted the challenge. I am finding that harder and harder to believe. You are no better than the management company you are blaming all this on.
A piece of advice: look up the definition of "integrity". If you had any you wouldn't be renting these apartments. I am surprised the city of West Des Moines has allowed this complex to remain in this condition. All the decent people are moving out. Who will you find to rent your apartments' The thought scares me...
My move-out day is coming up - it won't get here any too soon.

As a former Manager of this community, I can attest to the fact that the blame for this disaster lies soley with the Ownership and not the on-site team. I was deceived by Ownership when I took the position that all deficiencies would be addressed, that money would be available to address all the issues. What did happen was that nothing EVER got paid, the concerns of the water being shut off was a MONTHLY issue for me and my team (several times we were within hours of it being shut off), the maintenance team had LITTLE to NO supplies to take care of things so they did with what they had (which was not much and what they did have they borrowed from Peter to pay Paul). We also had issues with Security Deposit refunds not being paid out, other bills not being paid (like the telephone and electric) etc. Yes, you may have a valid concern with the performance of your new Manager, but keep in mind that your Owners are scum. No worthwhile, upstanding person in the WDM area (because everyone in the business knows what Wellington is) will work there. Call the Better Business Bureau, call the Health Department (mold presence is against the law), call the local Apartment Association, call the Mayor and/or your elected officials, call the Newspaper and the television stations, etc. Stand up for yourself. I left after a few months when I figured out what the truth was. Good luck and God bless.

Honestly I think that the new manager is incompetent, she has not concern for anything in regards to the complex and tries to avoid any concerns that the renters have at all costs. Often she has the others in the office screen her calls when you can walk past their make-shift trailor and see her sitting in it. She needs to be let go of her position and they need to find someone competent to run it or they will have no renters left.

I am a resident at Wellington and I can confirm that the manager screens calls. I have called the office on several occasions and they always ask "may I tell her who is calling?". After a few seconds, they tell you that she is not there. minutes later, you see her walking out of the office. This is clearly an unwillingness to provide customer service. If I lied to my customers and constantly put them on the back-burner, I would be applying for unemployment benefits.
