This place is a NO GO

No matter how tempting and beautiful this complex may be DO NOT be naive enough to sign a lease and live there for any amount of time. Let me tell you a few things that happened to me and my roomate over the course of the 1 year we lived there...
First off I just have to mention how unprofessional and uncooperative the staff at this place are. Sure they may seem gracious and nice at first and by golly they're all a bunch of size 0 barbie dolls and handsome ken dolls; But don't let that fool you either.
I'm talking, you tell them once or twice that it's not your alarm that's going off all the time; no big deal right' Simple misunderstanding. Then they come back a few more times leaving notes on your door that if you don't turn it off they are going to kick you out or something. So then you have to go into the office AGAIN and yell at them and tell them to quit leaving the note on your door cuz we don't even have alarms that could cause that rucuss! Now that's just annoying.
And of course lets not forget the old "Oh sure we'll call you back as soon as possible!" Yeah, sure. If you leave a message with one person it never gets communicated to the intended party or they simply just blow it off if they don't want to deal with you. Which is always the case, apparently, cuz we have only a few times we could mention that they actually called back when we left a message about something we needed to discuss with them.
The overall quality of the apartments are pretty nice-on the outside-but when you factor in the cheap fixtures in the bathroom and the overpricedness of it all, it's just really not worth the bull in the end.
Also beware when it comes time to move out, give your notice of vacancy and such that, by Idaho law, they have 21 DAYS from the date of the walk through to get your deposit back to you. After that you have free reign to kick some legal butt and sue them like no other (personally I think they need a good suing just to make them shape up a little with their work ethic).
Well let's start at the beginning of the week shall we' I called on Monday may 21st to ask "Um hey we haven't recieved anything yet so where is it'" The response I recieved (very typical by the way) was,"Oh, well I don't know because corporate issues those checks so I would have to get in touch with them and find out." Ok, so how bout' you be a doll and CALL THEM for me' He suggested I call back FRIDAY (20days by then..almost to the 21 days they have legally to get it to us). SO, being the nice, reasonable and rational person I am I say ok I will try Friday! I call today, May 17th 2007 and am told once again "I dont know cuz corporate issues those so we'll have to call to find out..." I kindly prompted the nice lady on the phone that they only have 21 days to get it to us to avoid legal complications and they're sliding awfully close to that 21 day marker so they need to find out RIGHT NOW. You'll never believe this but she said, "Oh and where did you get that information'''" I was like are you kidding'' It's IDAHO LAW-issued by the attorney general himself-as to what rights we have as tenants! How can you not know that and work for an apartment complex'! LOL I know this really does seem incredible that it's come this far but it has....So anyway, I immediately call my roomate & best friend (who, by the way, works at a law firm so we would have NO issues getting some legal council if necessary) and am telling her the story when suddenly I see call waiting and it's the Renaissance calling me back. Hmmmm funny how they'll call right back when their buttocks are on the line hm' :) So I answer in a pleasant tone and it's one of the staff calling back about a message they recieved from the person I originally talked to a few minutes prior(once again they claim they dont get our messages yet they will call back as soon as they get a message about us wanting our money and that we will press legal action' Does that make sense to you'). She tells me that corporate DID issue the check and that she had processed our paperwork three days after the walk-through with one of the other staff members. I asked her what day exactly did they issue the check cuz I certainly haven't heard of a check coming our way. She told me she didn't know and that she would have to call the accountant (like it was some big inconvenience). So I kindly asked if she would call them today for me and find out cuz this was just getting rediculous by now. She responds, "Well the accountant isn't in today but I will call tomorrow and find out as soon as possible for you." Well you better huh' Or else your butt is gonna get fired :)I figured I had pushed enough to get details and that I could wait another day and called my roomate back and told her the new story that was thrown at me. She calls them back to make sure they have the right forwarding address and such and then the lady on the phone starts to get an attitude with HER, like it was our fault or something. She asked my roomate why this was turning into such a big deal about the money-Unprofessional, again. Go figure. And my roomate promptly informed her it's not about the money it's about the fact that the office lacks serious communication skills and that she has left several messages with various staff members this month to find out what was going on and there were no call backs. Basically saying that you are blowing us off. Then Ms Anonymous staff member responds with, "I never recieved your messages." LOL Yeah, so I guess calling what three, four maybe even five times and speaking with different people and leaving messages isnt enough apparently to get a message to the right person.
SO long story short....I recieved word from my friend that the Renaissance had called her back an hour or so later after the big explosion today, to let her know that they are going to overnight the checks so we can pick them up tomorrow morning. Apparently the accountant really was in the office today' Who knows!
Gee what else could I say that is negative about this place...'
1) Parking is HORRIBLE for guests. You either pay for a spot -25.00 a month extra-or you park in an uncovered spot which are always occupied and if there are any open they are across the complex from where your apartment is! Plus the fact that there aren't even enough parking spots for as many people that live there.
2)The walls are like paper so you can hear almost everything your neighbors are saying or doing
3)If you have the maintenance men try to fix anything it's a half donkey job and they have to come back and redo it anyway (the maintanence crew is awesome, don't get me wrong-great people-but BAD management). We had an issue with one of the bathrooms where the faucet that ran into the tub had some caulking that was knocked loose and it was hanging there on the wall. The maintenance crew came over, re-caulked it but only enough to where it would stay on the wall. It moved around quite freely after that and still leaked water.
So do you get my point when I say DON'T sign any lease with these people' It's not a good place to be and it'll just end up causing more pain in the long run. If you see a lot of negative reviews/comments about something usually that means it really may not be the most ideal place to live! :) But to each his own so just be smart and make sure you know what you're getting yourself into if you decide to live at the Renaissance.

Too bad I don't have a more personable way to thank you for posting such review. We are currently living in Tx, moving to Boise in a few weeks, and we were considering these apartments, yes, they look lovely, but not after all you have gone through, and not after all your disclosures! i do thank you, I feel this review was meant for me and my family, what a life saver! thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you SO much for reading between the lines in my review! Believe it or not I gave such an honest and exposing review, the apartment manager actually CALLED me after the deposit situation had been somewhat resolved, and told me that they didn't appreciate what I'd written and that it had "hurt" their feelings. Aren't you SO glad that you didn't choose to live there? :)I would normally never write something so detailed and somewhat harsh but I believe that people should know what they are getting themselves into when it comes to signing a lease with an apartment complex! Especially an apartment that has such poor management skills and/or people skills.
