Just moved a while ago...

So when we moved in things were great for the first few days until we started our dishwasher, it would NOT pump water! That was pretty sucky, just a minor inconvience, but THEN our oven glass exploded when we FIRST preheated our oven. We had to eat out for almost our first week since we could not cook anything! Talk about annoying when you just move into a place! It took the maintainence four days to get us a new dishwasher and oven, but once that was done NO complaints since!
I really love the central air, the washer/dryer INSIDE the units. The fireplace is fun since you can get really creative with your decor. The only other complaint I have is with the neighbors, they seem really snotty. It seems as though we got our parking spot closer than others and the neighbors give me dirty looks. Also one night my b/f received a phone call about how we were making noise like we were "moving furniture" around 1 am at night. Um...at that time we didn't HAVE any furniture and I work graveyard so, we had no clue what that was about. The management was just as confused as we were about that, but just let us know not to make noise after 10pm (duh).
Some things I would think about before moving here, number one is the location is AWESOME, nestled in a little sub-divisionesque place. Not to mention you're close to EVERYTHING, freeway, food, the mall, stores, stores, stores!! I am ga-ga over the LOCATION!
Second, the deposit was very minor, I don't expect to get it back, but considering I have a decent credit score, and a cat the deposit was only $550 for all that, not bad at all! My first apartment almost three years ago the deposit was $500 before I even mentioned I had a cat. A little downfall was that I was asked for a 1 yr lease, not too excited about that, but oh well!
Third, I CANNOT hear my neighbors, now this might be because my apartment is not exposed to anything, like the pool or parking, but I cannot hear my neighbors. Once I heard a radio in my bedroom, but it was very faint so it was no big deal. You can hear your neighbors open and close their door, but again this is no big deal to me.
Fourth, compared to my last apartment the upkeep of the grounds is very nice, kind of sucks working graveyard and having to dodge the sprinklers early in the morning, it's nice to just know they actually WATER the grounds (my last apartment I was there a year and a half never ONCE saw sprinklers!). Also I have no gripes about the management, they allowed my kitty, my satellite tv, and they have left us alone except that thing with the noise. So no complaints for far with them.
Finally, as for the apartment itself just a few minor things, the carpet could have been done better, but it is obviously new, which is nice. The wood fixtures and the bathroom's shower could have been better made, but eh, no biggy. The fireplace is sweet, as is the central air (how many apartments these days have central-air COME ON!), and a washer and dryer! After some minor decor adjustments this place really feels like home. :)
So I have only lived here a little while and I would recommend this place highly. I know when it comes to deposits that is a big deal for some, but not for me. My last apartment I didn't get a deposit back, and that's fine since *I* didn't have to clean it. After first inconvient week this is somewhere where I actually LIKE living. Peaceful, quiet, and somewhat serene for an apartment in Boise that's close to everything you could want. I definitely don't plan on moving after my lease is up :)
