Cheap at First, Expensive in the long run

It is probably one of the cheapest apartments in boise and the mall is a few blocks away. But don't be fooled by these minor details. There is the Boise Sheriff department down the street on barrister road and a few Psych Hospitals right across the street and if that doesn't scare you then know that the police show up about once a month due to some kind of domestic dispute or violence.
My main concern is with the staff and their customer service. I lived here for a year. I paid $500 deposit for a dog and $350 deposit for the apartment itself. When I first moved in, the carpet smelled of dog urine and marijuana and there was a leak in our ceiling above our shower head. They said the carpet was cleaned before we came into the apartment and the leak was fixed with their handy-man by him painting over it. It took 6 months and 2 more attempts of the handy-man fixing it before they actually called a plummer to fix our upstairs neighbor's bad pipes.
After that our dishwasher blew up and flooded the apartment which caused mold to grow under our couch within the carpet for a week and a half. After I found this, they fixed the dishwasher and cleaned the carpet. For the next 6 months I was sick due to the mold that was growing in our window sills due to the faulty sprinkler system that kept spraying water at our windows. This mold was causing me to stay sick until we left the apartment and when we were cleaning the apartment for our security deposit we finally found this. It was inside the sill and only a neat freak would find that.
In summary, when we left the apartment they claimed that they had installed new carpeting and were going to bill us for the carpet's horrible condition and pet stains. I own a beagle, but had him trained professionaly. There was one area he had used the bathroom on and i personally cleaned that with special enzyme cleaner and steam cleaners. Yet they claim the whole carpet and even the carpet in the bedrom (which the dog was not allowed ever in our bedroom) was soaked in pet urine. In the end, they take all of my security deposit and stick me with a $100 bill. I only wish I had an inspector come in and document the mold so that I could sue, but I have no hard proof and am forced to pay a bill that I feel I do not deserve.
I would have gladly paid an extra $50 per month for a nicer, bigger, and safer apartment rather than get shafted with a ridiculous bill and deal with a year's worth of frustrations from management. If you do decide to go here, realize you may get an apartment that is not the greatest in shape and the management act more like businessmen rather than decent human beings. I am not saying all of the apartments here are horrible... some of my neighbors have never had a problem. I guess I was not so lucky with my apartment of doom. It's a gamble... do you want to gamble'
