We weren't able to move in on the 1st of the month because the apartment was still being cleaned, so we moved in as soon as they were finished on the 6th. Because we moved in after the 1st we had to stay in the apartment a full month longer than we expected. With the 6 month contract that we signed we actually had to stay there 7 months, which was a problem because we had other living arrangements once the 6 months were up, so we ended up having to pay for two different places for a month. The parking is another issue. There is one parking spot given to you, which is confussing, because if you have a two bedroom with two adults, chances are your going to have two cars... so you have to park across the street. you don't get any of your deposit back, no matter how well you clean. it costs $300 to paint, $70 to clean carpets and whatever they feel like you didn't clean well enough you get charged for as well. i paid a $400 deposit, and i won't get it back, infact i will pay $50 some odd dollars and my apartment was very clean. i was not impressed. the apartments are very nice, don't get me wrong, i loved my apartment, but it wasn't worth the money hassle.

I am the manager here at this community and I know exactly who these people are. originally applied for a two bedroom apartment. A few weeks later they decided to rent a three bedroom apartment with another person. Since they had changed their mind, the two bedroom was rented to someone else. When we finalized the three bedroom apartment and it was ready for them to move in, they decided that it wasn't going to work with the third person and wanted to rent a two bedroom afterall. We obviously did not have the two bedroom anymore but had an apartment available. Unfortunately it was not ready to be moved in to since it was just moved out of. They were given the choice to keep the three bedroom apartment or wait a couple of days for the two bedroom. They decided to wait for the two bedroom. I feel that we went out of our way to make these residents happy and don't believe this rating was deserved.

I am also a former resident of Teton Apartments. The reply from Brandy the "Manager" is totaly b.s. They have never gone out their way to make any resident happy. They totally take advantage of your security deposit and I am wondering if there is any legal actions that all of the residents and former residents can take against this truely slum lord of Idaho Falls?

I am a former employee of the Teton apartments and I totally agree with everything said above! But we need to keep in mind that Brandy too has a boss and a corporate office that she has to answer to. It's not her, it's the management company she works for. She's just trying to make a living, it's not like she pockets the money. As for the apartments, the rent is too high, parking does suck, it's too expensive to think of having a pet and you will never get your deposit back. I can honestly say it's not the manager's, it's the company. I worked for the company for almost 3 years.

Although I feel for Brandy, these reviews have been helpful. I am not the kind of person who believes every bad review out there; in fact, it's been my experience as a landlord's daughter that the worst complainers are the worst tenants who treat rental properties with disrespect and abuse. I am planning to move to Idaho Falls in the next two weeks from Washington State and Teton Apartments has caught my eye. They seem reasonably priced for that particular area (although a little on the high end and with fewer amenities). I have even contacted them for information. However, I am quite shocked by the consistent remarks about security deposits. Landlords have the RIGHT to take some money out for cleaning (usually 50-100 depending on the state and more for damages), but from what I have heard, this place takes serious advantage of you. Remember, the law is on the TENANT's side. The burden of proof is placed on the landlord if he/she withholds your security deposit. They must prove your damages. Do not take their crap! On the day you move, complete an evaluation/walk-through of the apartment, bring a newspaper from that day and take a hell of a lot of pictures. If possible, get the landlord to sign each picture. When you move out, DO NOT LEAVE THE PLACE UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED A SIGNED PAPER DECLARING THAT YOU HAVE INDEED CLEANED THE PLACE AND LEFT IT THE WAY IT WAS WHEN YOU MOVE IT. Oftentimes crooked landlords will wait until you have moved on with your life to impose additional costs. Most people will not fight back. Also, contact the Better Business Bureau and report the business. Like I said, I do not usually go off of consumer reviews because they are usually written by people who did not read the fine print but signed their lives away anyway, however, I am shocked at the consistency of the complaints. It's the same complaint one after another by different people and ex-employees. I think I will definitely reconsider this place UNLESS management (poor things) can contradict it with proof. Once again, they carry the burden of proof here.
