Me and a friend moved into this apartment during the summer with a 1 year lease. The apartments seemed decent enough, better than my dorm room at least...until we decided to move out when a house my friend built was finished. They were given the 30 days notice that we were moving out on 1 Jan 2007. The house was to be finished on the 31st. They would not even pro-rate us another day or week to move from the apartment to the house, so we had to be out of the apartment at 4 pm on the 31st and we couldn't move into the house until noon on that same day. It was a move but we did it and managed to clean up the apartment fairly well too. BUT after all that rushing they never showed up to do our walk through at 4 pm. So the next day we went in to give them the check and ask about the walk through and they said that since we hadn't brought the check to them the day before we were not able to get out of our lease and would have to submit another 30 days notice.

This is beginning to get crappy. So we agree and give another 30 days...but that day they put a lock on our garage (cutting mine off), even though we were still locked in and paying for it. This meant we couldn't move the stuff from the garage out. We payed for them to unlock it and all was well. We went back to the apartment since we were still locked in and cleaned the HECK out of it. Shampooed carpets, scrubbed floors, dusted, you name it we cleaned it.

When they finally terminated our lease, they sent us a bill totaling almost $4000 (yes, four thousand). The pic is attached. Here's a break down:

Pet cleanup: $100 (we didn't have a pet)
Unauthorized pet: $400 (see above)
Concession payback: $5 (don't know what this is)
Drip pans: $16 (we cleaned those)
Entry floor excessive cleaning: $25 (this was swept/mopped with no stains)
Front door excessive cleaning: $25 (maybe the outside, but not the inside)
W/D closet: $25 (we CLEANED this, and I mean cleaned...it was a chore)
Concession payback (JULY GARAGE): $30 (huh' I don't remember having a garage in July)
Garage #__ storage 1 mo: $30 (paid this to get the lock off already remember')
2 hours excessive garbage removal from garage: $70 (that garage was clean, we swept it and everything. No garbage left at all)
Concession payback (app fees): $85 (huh')
Siding repair: $225 (this one WAS our fault and I admit it)
Charges for cleaning needed (see note): $279 (you'll love this...$24 of this is for dusty light bulbs! The rest is just random cleaning stuff, most of which we did already)
Painting charges: $300 (the walls where clean, why paint again')
Term of Lease fee: $1098 (this is for the last two months on our lease, that's ok)
Carpet replacement: $1223.28 (this was for a little hole in the carpet from us trying to get gum out. We had a carpet guy quote us $50-$60 for the repair, the carpet was cleaned)
Deposits: -$300
Total due: you do the math...I also attached a pic of the bill,

All in all, we got screwed, BIG TIME. Be careful cuz they will charge you for every possible thing.
