We really should have known to stay away from this building when we first called. The manager acted as if dealing with us was a waste of time, and getting information out of him was like pulling teeth. We gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was having a bad day. We had friends in the apartment and were able to get more information from them than the manager. We came to look at the apartments in the middle of a month and explained that we could not move in until the first of the next month-- 2 weeks later. He showed us three apartments and said we had our choice. We filled out our application that very day. He told us that would not be a problem because it would take the current tennant a while to move out. However, he called only two days later saying we could move in in 2 days. BUT, he said, if we didn't put in our deposit and sign a lease now, we'd probably lose it because other potential tennants were also eyeing the place. When we reminded him that he had given us two weeks,he replied, "I need my money. You will pay me now and get the apartment, or not." As a first time renter we didn't know if that was how things usually went or if it was bad. We moved in anyways, not knowing any better. The apartments themselves are pretty, at least the windows. The carpet (at least in the unit we were in) was patched up. They had made repairs by cutting small sections out and putting new sections in that would soon fall out and become lost. On one wall the carpet doesnt even go all the way up to the wall! The building is located at the center of downtown, which is great for shopping and driving time, but is terrible at night when you want to sleep. During weekends, we lay in bed trying to fall asleep as trucks roar by, burning off and having a jolly time. The manager also keeps bad records so make sure to keep good records if you do rent here. We paid our pet deposit and days later he came asking for the pet deposit again, asking for our six week old kitten's proof of being spayed. Overall the the manager is the main problem, as he is unprofessional, unexperienced, and ignorant. The building, however, is nice, although the elevator breaks down once a week. The maintnance manager is a very hard worker, and always seems glad to say hi. Upon moving in, watch for the notices the manager posts on doorways. They are entertaining, as the manager has yet to discover spellcheck.
