We have no problems with management so far(as the previous author stated may be the reasons for some reviews). We just came here in June of 2002. The reviews I have read are horrifying. The majority of our problems are with neighbors. If I was not pregnant and diagnosed with asthma from the pregnancy, I would not have choosen the 1st floor, but we had no choice. Our upstairs neighbor has made it a living #$*@ for us. She warned us when we first moved in, her grandsons live across in another building, but frequently visit her. We expected to hear bumping and thumping, but not like this. We have also, had damage to our walls due to the 2nd severe leak from her apartment (that she denied came from her, but maintenance went in to investigate and found it was her). Our carpet was soaked and we have a permanent musty smell in our apartment. Also, when one of the neighbors turns on the exhaust in their bathroom, our bathroom fills up with cigarette smoke (in which management can do nothing about . . . they say -- perfect for my asthma and pregnancy) The spiders and ants are ridiculous. The bushes, although nicely trimmed, are covered in spider webs (looks like a Jason movie -- kind of like the laundry room, pretty scary). Music is blaring all the time, especially on weekends, but when we had on our music, someone called the police (the first and only time we had our music loud . . . which I admit, was pretty loud, but no louder then anyone elses, especially on boxing nights). I would only recommend Somerset if you are looking for short term living arrangements and don?t mind living in upscale projects. I refuse to raise my daughter and newborn in the suburban ghetto.
