OK, but not worth it

I lived there for 1 year and left because of the rent increase. There was no excuse for the more than 10% rent increase.
1. this place was advertised as newly remodeled. the cabinets are old and stinky! putting a new countertop over old cabinets should not be allowed to be advertised as newly remodeled.
2.when I signed the lease I was told the washer and dryer would be replaced with new ones by the time I'd move in. of course, that was not case when I moved in. it took me almost three month after I moved in to get the new washer and dryer...I had to consistently ask the leasing office to keep that promise.
3. the indoor pool (for which the residents pay)...what a joke! if I pay for it as a resident, why is the management company even allowed to sublet the pool to some swimming school'!!! the pool is always busy, filled with little kids taking swimming classes, the water is dirty!!!
4. after leaving the place it still took me quite a few months to recover my security deposit. they didn't want to give me the security deposit deposit because they said that I was supposed to have the carpet professionally cleaned (and provide the receipt) and because they had freshly painted the apartment after I left (which they are supposed to do anyway, but NOT out of the security deposit unless there are damages, which there weren't) - after much complaining and numerous calls to the leasing office I did get my money back - but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who's not looking for headaches.
it is unfortunate that the place has a good position and there's not much better available for renting in the area. thus, the management company of this place can afford to treat you as they want, even though you pay their salaries! AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

Thanks for your honesty - All of you out there who have lived or live at Avalon Arlington Heights please come out and say it as it is - it is a place that is undeserving of any appreciation whatsoever.
