Poorly Managed - Incompetent Staff

I've lived here for a few years and have watched the place degrade since it switched hands from Archstone to Ashton and then even more so when the apartments were converted to condos.
People aren't exaggerating too much when they talk about the crime. Within the first week of living here we had to call the police because some drunk guy was pushing all the buttons on the intercom begging for people to let him in.
People also aren't exaggerating about the noise. We have neighbors who like to throw loud parties at all hours of the night and people who live above us that sound like they're coming through the roof.
As with everyone else's review, the deal breaker with Ashton Apartments is the staff at the front office. God forbid you have a problem with your apartment. My garbage disposal was broken at one point, and I got a lecture about not putting anything too big or solid in it! As if don't know how to use a garbage disposal!' Sometimes things with moving parts just malfunction from normal use. To talk down to me was rude and insulting. I've of course, had several repair needs over the years - not just the garbage disposal, but I'll not list them here.
Every request or repair is a burden to the staff. You would swear that they're paying for things out of their own wallet or something or that they receive bonuses that depend upon keeping a zero dollar repair budget.
Every time I've gone in to the front office they start gossiping with me, complaining about other tenants. How unprofessional can you be' When it comes to this apartment staff, apparently you can be very unprofessional and get away with it.
The way I see it, they're paid to do a job. A fairly simple one at that. It requires very little math... no real physical labor. They answer phones, maybe give a tour here and there, send out notifications, and schedule things. They've chosen to make this their profession. This is what they do for a living. To be completely and utterly incapable of doing it properly on a day to day basis is simply astounding.
My recommendation to anyone evaluating Ashton is to keep looking. These buildings are 20 years old and very uncared for over the past few years. The parking is a mess (terrible snow removal), the sidewalks are icy, windows are broken, hallway heaters are broken, security doors frequently don't work, rude staff, poor parcel handling system (the rude staff sometimes hangs on to packages for weeks and never notifies you). It's far too much hassle for the money.

I could not agree with you anymore on this!! I have been here for about three years myself and have the same EXACT problem. I called to let them know how dirty my hallway was(especially the blinds) and they said it would be expensive to have them cleaned!! What???? The snow removal is terrible!! I almost fell this week. I already told my fiance..........we need to move!!

I have lived here for one year and I am so glad I am geting out of this hell hole soon. Management is basically lip service. Never care about tenant. It is just about money they can save or make. My lease was geting over on Feb 28th and since Feb has 29 days, I have asked them to extend it for one day since the apartment I was moving will be ready by Feb 29th. They refused and collected whole month rent. These idiots don't understand rent is for calender month not for 28 days. I have argued but they don't care. I agree with many reviews here, Management basically is worried about making money not about service. I will definately stay away.
Also, Someone mentioned about laundry card, I had exact same experience. Rules are made on the fly and it is always about how managment can make money out of you.

100% same situation for me. My numerous calls for the refridgerator to be replaced were completely ignored. It leaks from the seal . They paint over the mold that accumulates in the bathroom, that is thei quick fix and do not resolve it so of course it comes back. For them it comes down to what the board approves. Claudia is not understanding or helpful and you are to feel like a burden
