There were 2 main reasons why my wife and I decided to go with the Mansions:
Well, i need to update my review because i dont want more people to fall in the trap that i fell in. This place is falling apart!!!
1. Management - can't be any more unreliable and deceitful. I should have listened to the people who were saying that before i moved in. It's imposible to get help from management for anything in this complex. Calling the office for help usually ends with a big fat promise that never gets done. I just can't list how many times i've called to have things fixed and have waited forever. The biggest emberassment was when i called to get someone to fix the lock of my apartment door as my key got stuck in it. I was lucky enough to be able to get the key out after i called the office. Noone came to help until six months later!!! a maintenace guy comes over asking if i've had a problem with a key stuck in the lock!!! i can't believe that - 6 months of waiting!!! Same story with my balcony - i've been trying to get them to powerwash it as it's covered with some sticky nasty black stuff that looks like asphalt. management left notices (2 years in a row) that balconies would be powerwashed but that never happend. phone calls didn't help. i went to the office and talked to stacy which could be really nice but she never follows up and things never get done.
Safety - my neighbor had to get a garage for his SUV as someone broke in it. i've seen that happening one other time this year.
Smell - this place is turning into something like Little India. No offense - I have nothing against any race, ethnicity, cuisine, etc. but when the way you live affects other people's lives in a negative way i'd have to do something! The Indian folks appear to be taking over and the smell of pungent cooking 24/7 is just unbareable. There is nothing worse than to wake up in the morning and smell the onions and tons of curry that your neighbor is cooking 365 days a year. Somehow the ventilation system of this place is NOT GOOD.
Over-occupancy - the apartment below me has 7 people living in it!!! 3 adults and 4 kids. This is just ridiculous. The noise is unbareable lately.
Please don't move in here, find a different place
Before moving in we tried to find any reviews for the Mansions apartments but were able to find only one which didn't say much. There were many reviews for the other properties the Mansions Apartments management company owned. The common thing among all of them was the way staff and management acted. We were able to quickly find out what people were talking about. The leasing agent that we had turned out to be a rude, impolite Indian girl named Raj. She acted like she is a hot CEO and everyone else below her doesn't deserve attention. From the first day we were hoping that once we moved in (if we did) we won't have to deal with her anymore.
Here are some other comments on about this apartment complex.
Parking is ample (most of the time), but could be better - more lights would definitely make it nicer.
The buildings are made of brick and that usually helps keep noise low (unless you have neighbors like minw). A plus is the fact that there are only 3 floors, 2 apartments per floor - 6 apartments per building total. There are maintenance people that clean each building on a daily basis.
Grounds are kept in modest condition although more a lot more could be desired. In numerous occasions we've seen the landscaping company mow the grass right after a heavy rain. The tires of the lawn mowers make the lawn muddy and bumpy and neither the landscaping people nor management seems to care. I don t know why they do that. I guess they have a schedule and they don t care if it has just rained.
As anywhere where there is a pond, the geese at Mansions are many and their poop could be all over the sidewalks but in the 12 months we ve been here this has happened a couple of times only.
Also after a heavy snow in the winter, they don t start cleaning the paths until 8:30-9:00am when most people have already had to go through the deep snow to get out of the buildings. Same thing at night, you get home after work and the snow has piled up again but they wouldn t clean it until next morning.
Our apartment has 3 extra widows but we think it is not well insulated for the current standards. The AC is great; the heat is electric and also works well, JUST DON T FORGET TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER MONTLHY (it s offered free at the leasing office). If the filter is too dirty less air goes through it and you bill skyrockets.. Don t believe what the leasing agents would tell you as far as your expected electric bill (they told me $60 max). We ve been paying consistently $80 plus for AC in the summer (we don t run the AC all day) and $100 plus (up to $200 for heat in Feb 07). The fall and spring electric bills are lower.
With 1440 sq. ft., 2 beds, 2 baths, (master bedroom has its own bath), fireplace, balcony and a storage room we really like the design of the apartments. Although the Mansions apartments are supposed to be luxury, I think this is SUPER exaggerated. Not that the apartments are terrible, but let's be honest - the word luxury involves a lot more expensive things. Something that can be improved here are the cabinets and the appliances. They are SUPER old and lower the value of this otherwise OK property.
Staff is definitely what lags most in this company. From other tenants and my own experiences I've noticed that they are not reliable at all. Once I saw a tenant asking the leasing manager to write down and sign exactly what he said. I guess trust has been an issue here. The organization in the leasing office also seems to lag. I was asked for the same document a few times even after I already submitted it, just to be told later that it was misplaced - not a good thing when you are dealing with personal information. Staff needs to be more professional and better trained. The owners should take a note and do something about it if they don't want more and more people to complain and leave.
Overall this hasn't been a good experience for me.

I have lived at the Mansions for over two years, and I agree with a lot of what he is saying. For one he is right about the odors in the buildings. The ventilation is horrible. I have to disinfect once a day with Clorox cleanup to get the smell out, and I never had that problems when a hispanic couple lived below us, and they cooked frequently. I have come to notice that when the new couple moved below us it was not so much an issue with the cooking smells they are just dirty, and other tenants including myself have complained about them. Its true about to many family members living in one apartment. It is suppose to be against your lease, but they never do anything about it. This family always has people staying with them for months at a time, and the noise coming from the apartment is terrible. They almost act as if they are the only people living in the whole building I may evening be sterotyping, but it's true the ------- have taken over the complex, but its not just the fact of them being Indian the ones's that this buidling has come in contact with are very rude, and not clean. I don't care what race you are if you are dirty, your dirty. And if managments receives a complaints they need to inspect the apartments. I have had company over from time to time, and since this family has moved in they always tell me how bad the hallways smells, and you can't tell me that odor is just curry cooking. It smells horrible. They need to air out the apartment and disinfect and it wouldn't be so bad. But if i ever catch a roach in this building, all hell is going to break loose. Another point is the management could be better. I haven't had too many problems, but when things don't get done. I have personally gone up to the office and told them to fix it. The only reason why I have stayed so long is because I'm on an awesome rent special, but next lease signing we will be moving. There has also been many break ins with cars, and my car was alomost hit, but they must of gave up or trip the alarm. I noticed the damaged to the door but no one got in. This problem you can say thanks to the building management for poor lighting. The police department for not patrolling more, and when the drug dealing right in front of your face. They can get away with it because the parking lot is secluded and dark, and when you call the police they take forever to come to the property. No I will not be living here another year even if they drop my rent another $100 a month.
