Nice Place Overall

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008

I lived in the 2206 building from March 2008 until September 2008 on a 6 month lease. We got a decent deal for the area ($850/month for a brand new 1 bdrm on the 3rd floor). We had no major issues while living there, and I would have renewed my lease but we happened to find an amazing deal on a townhouse.

Overall the atmosphere of the complex is nice, and the neighbors were very friendly! I was suprised how quiet it was in my building, and not many kids lived in the building.

It is a pet friendly community. :) The pet restrictions say you can only have one dog (under 45lbs I think), but we adopted a second dog in May who got to be around 55lbs. All management said to me was how cute she was lol. However, I'm not sure if they're still as relaxed about the policy now.

The actual apartments are really nice. The ones that weren't remodeled were fine too, but they might all be remodeled by now, I don't know for sure. The remodeled apartments had wood floors except for in the bathroom, and crown molding which looked great. I loved the kitchen so much - the countertops were a dark granite color, and the appliances were stainless steel. Our unit (311) was brand new when we moved in, and I didn't have trouble with any of the appliances (refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave). There is also plenty of cabinet space, and schnazzy corner cabinets.

The living room was pretty big for a 1 bedroom apartment, and was very open. The bathroom looked really nice (everything brand new). The bedroom was a decent size, and I loved the closets! All the closets in the apartment had french doors and were very spacious! There is also a linen closet and a coat closet, both a reasonable size.

Being that we were on the 3rd floor we had a balcony, which was awesome. My dogs thought it was fun too. lol

The water pressure/hot water supply was always good. We only had to call maintenance once, and happened to be the week we were moving out. The kitchen sink had a minor leak. It took a few days of calling for someone to come fix it which was kinda annoying, but it was the only time I had to call to get anything fixed.

So about the management....my experience with them was not as extreme as some of the other people who wrote reviews. Yes, they can take a few days to respond. You really have to keep on them to get something done or get an answer, but it will eventually get done. (They weren't rude or anything, just slow...) Management in general wasn't around that much , which was fine with me (it wasn't like other landlords that constantly stick their noses in your business)

What else - no bugs or creepy crawly things which was a relief from my last crappy apartment :/ There is a garbage shute in each hallway. Ah yes the garbage shutes... there were 2 or 3 times that they got really backed up and stunk up the hallways for a few days. that was gross.

The courtyard was really pretty in the summer. There is a pool, not usually too crowded so that was good. There are also a few grills and picnic benches that people could use which was nice. The laundry machines ate a few of my coins but there were always working ones available.

I never had issues finding a parking spot but ALWAYS HAVE YOUR PARKING PERMIT VISIBLE!!!! Otherwise the -------s at S & S Towing will tow your car and you'll have to find a way to get to Melrose Park to pay $180 to get your own car back. And I rly rly rly bitterly hate S & S Towing, and the man who was working there that night in June....anyways.....

I didn't have any trouble getting my entire deposit back. I had to keep calling though to get sure information, but was able to pick it up 10 days after moving out. So, overall a good place, and I would recommend it. :)
