Noisy, but otherwise fantastic

I lived here from 1996 to 2000. Things change over time, so keep this timeframe in mind. The complex was superbly maintained. The staff was attentive and helpful, and two of them were drop dead gorgeous. Ok, that is irrelevant. There were plenty of parking spaces, and each parking space was extra wide (so you don't have to worry about door dings). Generally speaking, most tenants were nice people. You can also jog, or ride your bike to the Palatine trail (miles of dedicated biking/jogging trail) which ends at the beautiful Deergrove forest preserve. A handful of restaurants are within walking distance. Most residents are young people without kids. Expect to meet plenty of them at the well equipped fitness center, the whirlpool, or the pool. Management is very good at receiving UPS packages.
Now, for the downsides. The is very little sound insulation between the units. Expect to hear every little bit of noise from your neighbors. When your upstairs neighbor walks across his living room, prepare for something that sounds like an elephant stomping on a drum. When you walk across your living room, expect your downstairs neighbor to start pounding on the wall in frustration.
Also, the complex is in the shape of a triangle--bound by I-53 (major highway), Rand Road (major 4 lane road), and some high voltage power lines. Expect plenty of pollution and electromagnetic radiation.
Lastly, expect significant rent increases every time you renew your lease.
