The Pointe Apartments

Myself and fiance checked this apartment out in May/June of 2004 to move in August, '04. We are moving out this August, of 2005. We liked the apartment because it was under a half hour away from work. I guess it depends where your building is in the complex because ours is kind of secluded and quiet, which is really nice. We live on a first floor apartment, and we literally park about 30 feet from our balcony from our living room/kitchen. The inside of the apartment is nice, plenty of light comes in and for the most part it's clean and newer looking. They have actual tile on the bathroom and kitchen floor and a garbage disposal/washer/dryer and dishwasher. The bad things are that the washer/dryer are stackable. I must do at least 10 loads of laundry a week for two people, no joke. The bedroom is a very nice size and there's a huge walk in closet. There is hardly ANY cabinet space in the kitchen though. There is absolutely NO linen closet or anything like that, so prepare to get creative with where you put your stuff. luckily though, there is a storage spot on our bedroom patio. That's another good thing, two patios in this apartment. One thing I don't like is that the finish on the walls is that cottage cheese looking stuff, which some people may like, I don't know. The living room is also shaped very oddly, so you can only arrange your furniture/t.v. one way. I believe that all apartments must be like this too, because we can hear every movement and sometimes singing ;) from our neighbor above us. Our apartment has a fireplace which is nice too and the wall that the fireplace is located, they paint it a color of your choice at no cost, so that adds to the look of the living room. I also like how the kitchen overlooks the living room so you can see the t.v. while you cook. The carpet also seemed well cleaned and newer, and wasn't stained or anything. We are moving out because it's a one bedroom, and they're raising our rent from 909 to 950/month; and we knew we could find somewhere to get even a two bedroom for that if not a little more than 950. Also, this apartment is located near EVERYTHING...every store, restaurant, etc. which is nice. Unfortunately you can hear rand road and all the traffic with the windows closed though. Lastly, my car was broken into in Nov.'04 by some kid who lived nearby in a bad area. (we ended up catching him because my car alarm went off and we heard it and ran out to his car and got the license plate). The grounds seem safe, I honestly just think it was some punk kid coming from a bad area and that happens. The Pointe though didn't seem to offer much comfort to us or post anything warning residents about an auto theft. Our apartment was also kind of drafty in the winter and was on the colder side (though nice in the summer) and the gas/electric/water/phone, etc. REALLY REALLY added up, especially in the hot/cold months. I have mixed feelings about this apartment as I'm sure that's how it usually is though. The staff were pretty friendly to us and the grounds are well kept and the pool is nice.
