I've lived in The Gables for about 2 years and I have very few complaints.

PROS
The area is nice. It's far enough from the mall that traffic isn't too bad, but it's close to shopping in Naperville and Oswego. The staff is generally quite friendly and helpful. When I walk in to pick up a package or pay rent, they always know who I am and in which apartment I live. When I call and ask that they deliver a package to my apartment, they do so with rare failure. If you are going to be gone on vacation, they will even come and water your plants!

CONS
When we first moved in we felt very safe. Lately, though, it feels like there is more riff-raff around. Even our neighbors on one side and above us yell violently and scare us that they are beating each other! It's becoming an increasingly more common experience to have police in the area, which sounds good, but they're there because they're arresting people! Just recently we got a notice from the management that there have been a lot of break-ins lately and that they are not responsible for that. Thanks for the warning, but that's not very comforting.

NEUTRAL
They lost out rent check once. We got a notice several days after the beginning of the month that said they were going to evict us if we didn't pay. When I called the next day, the staff was VERY helpful and we rectified the situation quickly. The Gables even paid for me to cancel the original check.
